I already have to many SBCs/Dev boards, can not justify buying another one for this one small task. So am in a bit of a bind tbh. I mean I could use one of them to do this by manualy setting up appletalk/netatalk etc i guess but that seems like a lot of effort..

Over 6 hours now, I regret this choice.. should have maybe cross compiled.

Recompiling the Kernel on this old Pi (to add Appletalk) was prehaps not the best idea.. nearly 3 hours so far and its not done..  

To clarify, the intended use of the "A2FILES" Samba share is to upload files that are then to be accessed by the A2FILES Appletalk share on the Mac side of things correct ?

I am trying this again this time on a really old Pi (1B 512MB) I found in a draw see what happens.

I am not using a Pi. I am using a VM for the A2SERVER. I can ping the A2SERVER VM just fine. This is what I see in Network and trying to double click on A2FILES gives the error I posted no matter what I do, rendering A2SERVER useless as I can not get files on to it even tho it works fine on...

This is aggravating ..simply can not get this to work at all. Anyone able to help ?

Do I need to do anything special on the SE, in terms of additional software beyond a default System 7.1 Install ? this is one part I am unclear about.

So I remembered a while ago I bought these with the intention of getting the SE on the network, I could never get it working.. Feel like it may be worth trying again .. Anyone have any idea what software I need or what I need to do ?

I have not removed it from the sled to be 100% sure what it is as yet as there has been no need to. Remarkably I see, or rather hear no signs of any bearing issues or anything with it which is pretty amazing tbh. Also being able to watch the head stepper work on these old drives is cool as hell.

Went back to the 20MB HD that came with the SE and formatted and installed 7.1 on that via the 7600 but using disk tools from the 7.1 floppy image set to prep the drive and all is well. Well aside from this accelerator clearly not being able to deliver any more then 4MB total under any...

So I have a strange thing going on.. Used a 4GB SCSI HD, partitioned into 2 x 2GB partitions. Installed System 7.1 on one of them with no install errors.  Booting off the disk on the SE works fine but any changes to the filesystem on the disk get discarded on next boot ? i.e move an extension...

What would be the largest Hard Drive size, Partition size and number of Partitions supported on the SE with system 7 ?

Uhh... soo to get to the hard drive in the SE I am going to have to take the whole damn thing apart it looks like ? oh boy. :vent:

Drive still works but all I  have are a random selection of 1.44 floppys that I have done the tape trick to make into 800k ones and they ... sometimes work... my mileage has varied a lot on this in the past.

I can even make this even easier by copying the 7.x.x CD ISO to the 7600 hard drive(its actually a SD card hanging off of a SD to IDE adapter and a Sonnet IDE PCI card) in Transmac and use something to mount that ISO on the 7600 and so on.. basicly then need to use zero media optical or floppy...
