Setting proper resolution on widescreen LCD

Interesting... I bought it off the clearance table, so it had no cables. Looking through my stash of parts at home I found a Male-Male VGA cable. I'll try another cable later on and see if it helps.

Setting proper resolution on widescreen LCD

I finally was able to try SwitchResX on my G4 after replacing the hard disk and installing Tiger. It came close, but no cigar. It will also do 1360x768. When adding a custom resolution, entering 1366 changed to 1360 after moving to another field. I also tried DisplayResX. It attempts to...

Setting proper resolution on widescreen LCD

The G4 has some issues with starting properly. Sometimes it will go to the desktop, other times it will stay on the gray screen. I'll try it again tonight.

Setting proper resolution on widescreen LCD

Weirdness - on the PC using the built-in drivers for the 9600 it showed the resolution correctly. After installing the latest ATI drivers it now shows 1360x768. So far I haven't found a function to only show the current resolution non-scaled. Had to reload the PC - apparently Ubuntu does not...

Setting proper resolution on widescreen LCD

Forgot to mention - the G4 has the original Rage128 AGP card with 16 MB RAM. It handled 1280x1024 at full color depth just fine.

Setting proper resolution on widescreen LCD

I'll give SwitchRes a try. I did find out this morning that Ubuntu does 1366x768 just fine. On the Windows side the machine is using the latest drivers from ATI, but it's a legacy video card (Radeon 9600PRO).

Setting proper resolution on widescreen LCD

I now have an Acer/eMachines E181H widescreen LCD monitor. The resolution is 1366 x 768. On my PowerMac G4, it shows a max resolution of 1280x720. Of course the picture isn't clear. Is there a way to set it to the actual resolution even if it does not appear in the Monitors preference panel...

    Weird issue with image file

Yes, I'm really blind. :) Apparently I made a copy of the site I am working on to the wrong location. The image file I was looking for was there....

    Weird issue with image file

What I was attempting to do was resize an image to make it more suitable for a web page. iResize can resize the file, but when the resized file was saved it did not show in the finder. I was trying to find a way to make the file visible. I'll try a different program. I tried Preview, but...

    Weird issue with image file

I'm working on someone's web site and used a program called iResize to resize an image to a new file. The file appears when I go to Terminal, but does not appear when using a finder window. When I try to add the file as part of an image tag on a web page, it does not load. Any ideas on how to...

    Help remembering a nostalgic game

The Lost Island of Alanna http://games.multimedia.cx/negative-progress-alanna/ I remember the game but never played it. According to the article there was a review on MobyGames with the download for the game there. This link covers the Windows version.

    Virtual PC 2.1.2 update?

I used to run it with a Voodoo2 card. It was pretty nice for games that supported that card. May have to resurrect my Beige G3/400 to see what kind of damage I can do. :)

What linux OS could I use in QS G4 ?

The ISO that you downloaded is for Intel processors. It won't work on PPC systems.

Upgrading a dual G4/450 processor with something stock Apple

Are there any faster Apple G4 processors that will work on my Sawtooth besides a dual or single 500mhz module? I've been trolling eBay and see several pulled processors from faster G4 systems quite cheap.

    3400c

May have to give it a try. I should have plenty of extra laptop screws at home to help hold it together - it needs all of the help it can get.

    3400c

I found one of these at the flea market with no power adapter, battery or hard disk. Would there be a way to use one of my Wallstreet/Lombard AC bricks on it with an external hard disk? It looked like it had been disassembled and wasn't put together properly.

    Inexpensive USB2 & SATA card recommendations . . .

I have had success with NEC-based USB2 cards. But as others have mentioned they only work at USB2 speeds in MacOS X 10.2.8+. The only exception I have had to a working NEC-based card was a Belkin 5-port card. Worked well in Windows but it would cause lockups in MacOS X.

    Where are all the programmers?

While I do code/support for a living, I have never coded a program for either Classic or MacOS X. FutureBasic appears to be pretty nice. I may put it on my Lombard and see what I can come up with. While it has enough disk space (maybe) for the OS X dev tools, it's only a G3/333....
