another interesting open application http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macos/13986 that i had to use in my QS G4 when signed into OS 9 because i could not figure out how to assign a F key to open the CD/DVD tray ( this mac has the original keyboard: solid black with tiny tiny keys )
No, not really sure that the card is even good: i was assured that the card is new and never used: although i have been badly stung in a similar purchase of some midi gear.
My 8500 already has a FireWire card and a USB card and i don't want to anger the gods by removing those cards and trying...
I appear to have the "official" OS 9 and 9.1 installers.
I've done the install and re-installs so many times that at this point of trying to get that Belkin card going i'll do a build. Just thought i would ask to get an understanding of the steps involved.
I even tried the 9.2.2 installer but...
Thanks.
Just a fast question :
do i have to install OS 9 first and then add OS 9.1 ?
Or
Can I just trash the 9.1 that's installed now and then just run the OS 9.1 installer ?
Or do i have to build up to 9.1 ?
i have an LG external and also internal ( in my QS G4 ) burner that can use those DVD-ROM's
Can i install and run system 8.1 from at DVD-ROM in the G4 or my 8500 ?
The 8500/G3 (Sonnet) has FireWire and USB ports. I have used the LG burner with the 8500/G3 to rip/burn DVDmovies but never...
I'm not sure if this is the board to ask but i have come to trust the gurus of the 68kMLA to provide me with the correct information/help
if this question does not belong in the nation of 68kMLA the admin here can just zapp it on my behalf
I still do not fully understand when do i use a PLUS...
Not really sure. I started off this question noting
in addition to all the information i provided and the information provided in turn.
It was noted that this said Belkin card F5U005 ( a card from those years ago ) would work. An off course Belkin are no longer accessible to provide drivers or...
I tried installing Apple's USB Adapter card support 1.3.5 but it would not go because, i think, my OS is 9.1.
Then I installed Apple's USB Adapter card support 1.4.1 . However , nothing. I tried a 128 MB, and two different 4 G flash drives, a USB mouse and nothing. I then plugged in a powered...
Very much frustrated here because Apple Profiler and Norton System Works for OS 9 can not see the card.
I have installed OS 9 ( using original apple installer for OS 9 ) and updated to 9.1.
Unable to update to OS 9.2 because installer says that my performa 6360 does not qualify.
I can't find...
Happy 2010!
Is there ?
i,m sure there is but i have completely forgotten what it is called and where ( could you give me the URL ) could i download it from ?
Thanks.
OK, I got my performa6360 updated to 8.1.
So now it has OS 8.1 and 9.1 on the same hard drive which upsets Norton when I run it to optimize/degrag etc.
I need both systems because some of my midi/audio work in 8 but not in 9 and vice versa. For example Finale works in 9 and Opcode's Studio's...
The card http://www.info.apple.com/support/oldersoftwarelist.html'>http://www.info.apple.com/support/oldersoftwarelist.html arrived.
i installed the card, re-installed OS 9 and ran the USB support drivers from the apple downloads ( http://www.info.apple.com/support/oldersoftwarelist.html )...
Opps! I keep forgetting about that.
Thanks. It's amazing to me that you guys at these formums know all that stuff.
I can recall now that i did catch on that as i moved up the OS chain my poor old mac of the day gradually slowed down as each OS required more and more RAM and in those days...
