I've been able to get some old RAM at the flea-market.
There is one in Lisbon every Saturday morning were I've been able to find a lot of retrocomputing stuff.
Most of them might have been baked by ESD, but at 50 cents each, I'm willing to take a chance ;)
The other day I bough 5 pc100...
I'm a visual guy..
Here are some photos of the affected area.

Hello APM,
Thanks for your reply.
I'll be looking more thoroughly for eventual shorts to ground around that area and in the wiring and Logic Board.
Hope it’s repairable :-/
By the way, I’m looking at these components for replacement:
MC7905CTG (Linear Voltage Regulators 5V 1A Negative)...
Throughout this liberation process I’ve come across some dirty ol’macs.
You just can’t scrub it out – it will always have that nasty smell once it starts warming up.
And believe me, I do wash them quite thoroughly.
I did smoke for sometime, but quit back in 2004 :rambo:
I noticed this burned area on the Analog Board.
Is this common?
Everything else on the AB is fine and dandy, as is the Sony power supply that sits underneath.
I guess I'll have no problem replacing this Resistor (R29, 2W, 12Ohms 5%) and Linear Voltage Regulator (U3, 7905 -5V 1A) – even...
Much alike the one that came with my "new" SE/30
I haven't got it working since the SE/30 came as non-working and I'm just starting the recovery/recaping process.
Will I need a driver for this card?
Better start searching ;)
Thanks!
It is indeed the iPort.
So, nothing fancy here :p
I was surprised to find so many answers to this thread - I received no notification... :-/
Cheers!
Hi,
I recently bought two “rev. A” iMacs (I noticed they had the Rage II chip) that came with the same Mezzanine card installed.
Since I haven't made a thorough disassembly of these tray-loading iMacs, I haven’t had a careful look at the card they have brought.
I’m hoping some of you guys...
True.
It's been almost twenty years since they've been presented.
And they are indeed bulky.
But I like the concept of stand-alone, and they are the off-spring of the good Apple – the one with Jobs and Ive…
“The back of this thing looks better then the front of the other guys, by the way”...
I feel you
;)
In Portugal the few SE/30 you can find are 250€ a pop, or more...
There's this guy selling a rotten Original Macintosh online for 250€... :p
250€~$280
Little by little I’m becoming more attached to these little macs.
They are the offspring of the Classic Macs and flag Apple’s rebirth from the ashes.
I’ve been focusing mainly in getting a SE/30 or Colour Classic and in the process I have given little attention to these inconspicuous machines...
I have a Rev A iMac that once started to get these colour aberrations like it was burnt out.
This started when I changed the resolution to 1024 by 768.
But by reverting to a lower resolution it magically returned to being a bright and crisp CRT.
I did some retrobrighing in my Classic case and i must say it wasnt easy. It took about four half-days to get to a satisfactory result.
I tried both wrapped and unwrapped, applied with a brush or just using gloves...
And the best results came while spreading only with gloves, unwrapped.
Using...
Thanks for your advice TechKnight.
I've been having a lot of fun trying to grasp the essentials to handle this analog board.
Most of what I know came from this forum and a lot is coming from your videos.
This analog board seems to be the perfect playground for a curious guy since it's not...
Follow up
I'm still looking at troubleshooting this Analog Board problem.
But, while trying to list it’s components I've stumble upon some I just cant figure out what they are. :p
The RP2 “surgistor” (Line Filter section?). There is nothing written on this component – I have no idea how...
