The real problem is this: I am using an old PC from around 2002 with a 300-something MHz processor and 225 MB of RAM. It came with XP SP1 on it. In addition, I'm trying to cram a Wubi installation onto an already-packed 38 GB hard drive. That is the problem.

Just name the application "Finder", change the type and creator codes to those of the original Finder, pop it in the system folder, and restart. Much simpler :) .
