Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
In my experience, it seems that these drives get dust in their mechanism as well as the grease goes "hard" and jams things from releasing etc.
I've had good luck so far by removing the drive assembly, removing the drive from the bracket, dusting with compressed air then cleaning all the old...
Interesting how there's a few varied answers here. Doubt anyone will say "512k" or "128k" but so far we've got beige Plus, SE, Classic and Classic II already.
Personally, I think the Classic is the most common. Especially the educational one without HDD. I think I must have about 10 of them...
Yep, capacitors.
ALL my CC's have the same problem (all FOUR).
I replaced the caps very carefully on one board as they were all visibly leaking. Still doesn't work though...
Nice pickup really. I like the single 1.6 G5. As it was the first G5 tower it has some level of interest to a collector.
I have one in my collection. It's not particularly useful as it is huge, not as exciting as a MDD G4 and uses a fair amount of power. But I still like it.
Hope you can get...
Wow that looks absolutely fantastic!
A bit of a shame the Quicktime sticker didn't survive though, but it doesn't look "odd" that it's not there either.
So... You filled up a bucket/tub big enough to submerse the entire case in, with 1/2 a bottle of OxyClean then you just leave that outside in...
Sorry I don't have any suggestions but well done finding those two! Definitely hang onto them, working or not.
That said, if you ever want to sell........ I am in the market for one (as well as probably another 20 members here) hahaha.
Wake me up when I can sell my "wall of compacts" for $10k.
Been watching ebay Australia recently at prices for compacts. Bidding usually ends between $50 and $200 each!
I should have put it in here, but I did make a thread a few days ago about a Performa 200 that went for over $300 USD...
Was anyone else watching the Performa 200 on ebay?
Did it really (legitimately) sell for this price?

I'd absolutely love some type of G4 Cube brochure/poster to go with my cube too. Unfortunately nothing of the type in this stash. Although, some of the "solutions/product guide" posters have them included but not as a main feature.
The ImageWriter II had been opened unfortunately and the software instal discs are missing. Otherwise it's complete and unopened. The manuals are there with the packing list, the cables are shrink wrapped and the ImageWriter itself is still wrapped in plastic. 8-o
The HyperCard retail box is...
A museum would be awesome. Basically a nice bench in the study with my favourite ones setup would do! I have a feeling if I had a museum, no one would visit anyway!
Surely finding a 128k that is still a 128k is like finding a G3 iMac with 32MB RAM - is that even possible?
Personally, if it's a "period correct upgrade" which keeps the original looks but just improves performance I think it's a nice capture of the life/use of the machine.
Seriously, an...
Great recollection Scott Baret.
Also, mcdermd that's an awesome pickup for $50.
Is the keyboard in the styrofoam original packaging just without the cardboard slip?
I've never seen that variation in Australia. I've got a couple of the original Graphite ones, and a few of the white ones with the chrome Apple logo but never seen a white one with a grey Apple.
Bargain too.
