Hi techknight.
I had same symptoms like yours(v-lines all over the back but cursor and floppy icon are displayed). In my case, washing mb and recap worked.

I re-checked my config and found I am using SunDisk 8GB cf.only to suggest your 4GB SunDisk cf will work fine if you are careful 2GB limit when my 8GB works.
Hope it helps.
Hi mdent23.
I don't have 4GB of SunDisk CF,but I had tried 2GB SunDisk cf which has 1 partition, worked fine for me.I think it is free from issue if you are careful with 2GB limit.
Cheers!
Hi mdent23!
I have artmix scsi-cf adaptor and tried some cf cards on it.Same as other scsi-ide-cf converters,it has compatibility issue. In my case Transcend and SunDisk cf-cards wok fine, but others (and some from Transcend) don't.so you want to be sure which cf card you are using.
I hope this...
+5 and +12 line mean power supply.middle of this page, you can find pins you can check voltage
http://www.classic-computers.org.nz/blog/2015-05-14-mac-plus-checkerboard.htm
If there is no chime/bong,I think you should check voltage of +5v and +12v line.Next step would be checking solder crack on analog board.also cap leaking on logic board.
Hi,joebang.
I think 2 days are enough to dis-charge.but still you want be sure dis-charge hi voltage.so you should follow this instruction

For blank screen,Are you sure brightness knob isn't positioned 0.or did you hear the chime?
Did you check voltage with PowerCache on? PowerCache is very heavy load for PSU.If PSU went weak,It might be good for MB only but not enough for MB with PowerCache. When I got SE/30 with PowerChache, caps in PSU are leaking.
hope everything go well.
Yes,HD connector is directly connected to PSU,So you can check PSU volts. But there may be possibility MB is not supplied correctly or there is voltage drop.

Absolutely you have to.And more than caps, remove battery AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!.It is ticking bomb in side SE/30 which killed so many SE/30s beyond repair.

Yes I'm sure.there is video if you like.

As Elfen mentioned, pattern will be different according to habits of memory chip(or each cell). So there is possibility all memory cells are set to 0 gives black screen.but I haven't seen it.I always see random pattern.

Hi BadGoldEagle.
I can see how you got excited because I got socketed PowerCache too.
1 SE/30 with PowerCache can be accelerated event without drivers. But drivers can give you some controls.
2 You can use CPU-puller like comes with PowerCache SE/30.But I sometime get CPU pulled out with flat...
You need Mode32 extension or 32bit clean Rom to use more than 8mb on SE/30.you can easily find Mode32 on web.but for 32bit clean Roms(IIsi or IIfx),they are hard to find. As I'm using Japanese version of System 7.5,I need at least 16mb memory but I don't know about using non-Japanese version...
I have 2 SE and both have battery holder.I think we have later version in Japan like SE/30.(socketed CPU SE/30's are very rare in Japan)
And they are FDHD.
That's right! she wouldn't notice. But I can't have enough time finish other issue than mb(hard drive, floppy drive, cleaning case and so on...) and market is narrow in Japan.but I can't stand to bid it when I find anther non-working/good-price SE/30 on auction...
