Tried the LC 550 board with the Presto with and without the VRAM already. Out of curiosity, I tested what would happen if I left the VRAM in the stock board with the Presto installed - it corrupts the video, but it doesn't stop it from booting. Thus, I'm pretty sure that's not my problem.

Hmm... perhaps a melamine foam sponge (Mr. Clean Magic Eraser)could have/could still help? I dunno, it's probably not the best thing for the plastic, as it is somewhat abrasive, but it might still be a good idea...

I have a 512k VRAM SIMM, as one would use in an LC 550 (I'm still waiting on my 550 board to arrive). If I were to attempt to use it on my CC board, what would happen? Would I be able to use the full .75 MB of VRAM, would I only be able to use 512k, or would it not work/damage the board/SIMM...

Eh, the IIci is as much of a compact as the G4 Cube/Mac Mini/Cylinder Mac Pro are. :p

I know we're talking about Analog Boards here, but I want to say something about recapping Logic Boards: if you're gonna be replacing SMT components, I think it's essential that you buy/use a pair of SMT tweezers to help you hold the cap in place while you solder, or at least tack down the first...

Pretty sure a RAM doubler would, you know, double the RAM. :p But yes, RAM compression software could also be at play, but that seems less likely than just having 4MB of Virtual Memory set.

My guess would be that it has Virtual Memory enabled, given that "built-in memory" is still at 10MB.
