For OS X, I'd probably choose Leopard on the G5. The MDD would be better as a Tiger/9.2 dual-boot. Also, the MDD power supplies are notoriously troublesome.
I currently have two Power Mac G4 towers, a Sawtooth/400 and a Quicksilver/800. Both are in good working order, and the Sawtooth has an upgraded AGP video card. Now, I'm operating with kinda limited space, and to make room for the possibility of older/more interesting hardware coming my way, I'm...
I wouldn't mind having an iLamp - they were kinda cute and unique. :) But they're not exactly my top priority to acquire. That said, I'd probably put the eMac even further down the list.
*looks over* Nope, just a plain old shadow-mask. And if you could get a 1024x768 LCD the right size, it would be a nice replacement for a dead CRT, but good luck with that these days!

The keyboard was intentional: Jobs' vision was that the ONLY thing a keyboard was for was entering text. Even arrow keys were supposed to give way to point-and-click. The Plus' keyboard was actually a compromise, in a sense.
The original Mac was kind of crippled from the intended design. IIRC it was supposed to have a FileWare drive and 512k RAM from the beginning, but they had to cut it down because RAM was so expensive and the FileWare drives too flaky. So really, the 512ke was closer to the original intent.
