Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
That's what I thought but would like a little more info about bake temp and duration, if available.
Also, I'm told that by replacing the MB I would need to calibrate the fans or they would run at full speed. Can anyone confirm this, and if true, point me to the calibration software. I have...
I have a 2.0GHz dual processor G5, (June 2004, 8 Ram slot model), that will not boot unless I heat the MB area around the Ram slots with a hair dryer for about a minute, then it boots and runs fine. Attempting to boot cold, the front panel light flashes 3 times, indicating a Ram problem. I've...
The quoted price for that Dual 2.7 G5 is quite good compared to what they usually go for on eBay. The major issue with the earlier liquid cooled machines, as has been pointed out, is leakage of the cooling system. If you can do a detailed inspection of the CPU area, check for any evidence of...
I have a G3 iMac (slot load, 400 DV model, 512MB, 10GB HD) that I would probably part with for about $25 plus shipping in the original box. But of course, shipping would be the killer.
Yeah, the G5 Quads are still pretty spendy but if you're patient you can find a 2.3 GHz dual core for a decent price. I got mine for $290 shipped a couple of months ago and have been quite happy with it. Not only is it quieter than the 1.42 DP G4 MDD, the processor runs cooler most of the time.
Trag, one of the members of these forums, made up some 16MB IIfx Simms several years ago but he hasn't done that since. I've never seen them anywhere else, though it's possible some might show up on eBay. Also, keep an eye on Lemswap on Google groups http://lowendmac.com/lists/swap.html...
If you don't mind divulging where such cards are on eBay I could sure use one. I stared at eBay pages until cross eyed today and didn't see any Gigabit cards that looked like they would work in OS 9. Darn few that had drivers for OS X even.
I have a D-Link DGE-530T card here but have only...
You can get Pram batteries at Radio Shack but you'll pay $12 - $14 for one. You can get 4 from Mike Richardson over on ppcmla.org for less than that.
Edit: Oops, my bad. It's ppcmla.com.
It's unclear if this was supposed to be a PB or Mac version of the 3940UW, however I was able to get a driver from the mirror site listed above and flash the card with Rom Version 4.1. When installed in the 9600/G4, with no ribbon cable connected, the 9600 will not boot. It gets to the happy...
Hey, thanks for the link! I've downloaded what appears to be the proper card Rom update but haven't tried it yet. The 9600/G4 has two 15K RPM drives driven from a 2940 and I wanted to try the dual channel 3940 just for grins, not that the 9600 really needs that. Will post my results.
