    Mac part numbers

Don't have any idea what you mean by reset the PMU. How does one go about that? PRAM batteries were new. The iMac displayed the same problem in two different locations in two different buildings, but the second machine was normal in the same locations. Should eliminate any EMI effects, plus...

    iMac G3 video problem

Yeah I did swap the entire MB assembly, including the down converter. When I get some time I may take both machines apart again and try swapping just the MB. On the other hand there are a couple of 400 DV MB's including the down converter on eBay, so may just go that route if they're cheap...

    Mac part numbers

Well, I was looking for a MB on eBay and found some, but can't tell if they're for the 400 DV by the part numbers listed. Specifically, PN 820-1096A is advertised as a 400 MB, but no indication if it's for the 400 DV. So was trying to find some source of part numbers by machine model.

    iMac G3 video problem

Thanks for the reply. After switching the MB back to the 400 DV the other iMac displays and functions normally. So it almost has to be the MB. My choices, as I see it, are to get another MB off eBay or just add a cheap VGA monitor and live with the weird built in display.

    Mac part numbers

Here's another question for the gurus out there. Where can I find Apple part numbers for components?? I Can't get anywhere on the support section of the Apple site.

    iMac G3 video problem

My G3 iMac 400 DV has a video problem; the video is squashed in on the left, colors are wrong and can't be corrected, the icons are all washed out, etc. Plug another monitor into the VGA port and it's video is normal. So, thinking, aha, I replaced the PAV board; nothing changes. Scratched my...

    Power Mac G4 "Yikes!"

Hmmm, System Profiler says my G3 400 iMac has a 100 MHz bus.

MAJOR RANT: I'M MAD AS HELL!!!

I just disassembled my G3 iMac yesterday to replace the PAV board, and I heartily agree with the rant! Various and sundry bits of plastic fell out, connectors broke off, screws were difficult to get at, etc. It's back together now but who knows if it would hold together if I tried to move it...

A guy claims to be selling a "dual processor" IIfx

I scratched my head over that ad when I saw it also. Notice that there's no mention of Ram or HD size or what flavor video card, if any, all of which would make a big difference for appropriate bidding.

    Small conquest

50 pin SCSI. I may put in the IIfx with OS 7.6.1

G3 Mini Tower / 6400-200 Mac II w/ IIfx mobo

No, the MB is dead because the battery holders are corroded off the MB. I've never seen a piece of electronic gear with as much corrosion as that IIfx has. I was mildly surprised that the simms worked. Someone with better soldering skills than mine MIGHT be able to resurrect the MB, but who...

    Yamaha CDRW 8424 driver

Thanks for the info. There was a copy of Toast on the machine, so I moved two extensions into the extension folder, restarted, and Aha! the CD appeared on the desktop. Haven't tried burning yet but at least I can read CD's on that drive. Thanks again for the help.

G3 Mini Tower / 6400-200 Mac II w/ IIfx mobo

I just pulled 8 1MB IIfx simms out of a totally dead IIfx and will test them today in my working IIfx. If they test ok then I'll have a set of 4 for sale if you're interested.

    Yamaha CDRW 8424 driver

I'm looking for a driver (System 9?) for a Yamaha CDRW 8424 external SCSI burner. Yamaha no longer has anything on their site and a Google search only finds Windows drivers. Anyone have any leads for such a driver?

    High performance processor card

Final question (I hope) on this thread. How would I tell if a 8600/9600 had the Kansas board? Part number, serial number, obvious physical difference??

Performa 6116 liberated.. and today I went back for the 6400

Aphetica Check out http://main.system7today.com lots of good info on System 7 there, along with a number of good downloads, including Open Transport 1.3. My experience is that you'll need to go to 7.6.1 to get good connections to the net.

    High performance processor card

Thanks to all for the info; especially ALK for the links. The spaces labeled 250....400 have nothing soldered in, but the speed resistor matrix elsewhere indicates this is a 300Mhz board. I got this to install in the 9500 I'm hopefully getting from Orion, but maybe a 8600 or 9600 will come...
