Power Mac 6100 monitor issue NEC MultiSync LCD1550V

Doh, why didn't I think of mentioning that? I have a 6100. While you're waiting for a new battery, you can use the power-cylcle trick. Turn on the Mac for a few seconds, then power off and back on real quick. This should allow video to appear without a working battery. ;) (Done it many times...

original Mac interleaved memory controller details

Hey bigmessowires, I stumbled onto this last night. I "stitched" it back together, it's not the best. But at least it's something. :D Edit: Apparently, Jagshouse.com had a sit file containing these as well.

Stunnel: Emailing with OE5 & GreenMail

Well I've successfully confirmed another two email clients. Mulberry 2.1 and SweetMail 2.2r6c. Mulberry support POP and IMAP, and requires m68k or PPC running Mac OS 7.1 or higher. SweetMail supports only POP, and requires a PPC running Mac OS 7.5 or higher. Email in Mulberry 2.1: Email...

Mac Classic with Unusual Serial Number

I sold a Mac Classic to a member here that was manufactured February 1991. That sticker in the listing has a corner that's pealing, it very well could have been tampered at one point. I dunno, I just looked at the case of our SE/30 here and while it looks similar, it's not exact. (For...

Mac OS X refuses to install.

Even though DVD+Rs were mostly used for computers. You might want to consider trying a DVD-R. It's also possible that if you've used the toast image unlocked with PearPC, the toast image is now modified and won't work. If you have a copy of the toast image that hasn't been touched by PearPC or...

    Another IIci ROM hack

Does anyone know the difference between GttMFH2E and this? http://www.amazon.com/Mac-Family-Hdware-Ref-Apple/dp/0201192551 They're both 518 pages, both 2nd edition, but one was published in 1988 and the other 1990. (So is it really the 1st edition?) If this "Apple Macintosh Family Hardware...

Stunnel: Emailing with OE5 & GreenMail

I don't think Green Mail supports IMAP. I'll have to double check that to be sure. Anyway, I did find Mail Drop. But it hasn't been worked on in years. And the last release (2.0d which is author said was an alpha,) is missing several features. Mulberry also supports IMAP, but I've yet to test...

Stunnel: Emailing with OE5 & GreenMail

I've lately been trying to find things I can do with my Macs. I had been wanting to do email on my Classic II. But alas, I haven't found any email clients that would work with Stunnel. With or without Baton Mail's help. Anyway, I did have success with Outlook Express 5.0.6 and Green Mail, using...

    Software "timeline"?

I've seen some hardware timelines and Mac OS timelines on Wikipedia. But nothing for software components. That would be something we could add to our wiki. :) AppleTalk was introduced with Mac OS 7, but works as far back as 6 and the last for native AppleTalk was 10.2 right? (10.5 was the last...

    Cool looking floppy disks

Well I didn't find our old box, but I did find out the brand. I'm pretty sure the 50 disks box we had were color. That or the little box was and the big box were plain black. Ack, I can't remember. :p

Using a Zip 100 drive with a compact Mac

I'm planning on getting a Zip drive for my Classic II one of these days. Anyway, here's some info on using Zip Drives on Old Macs: Mac Plus and Zip Drives Revisited (I'd recommend reading this one first, it has some useful info on driver issues.) Using A Zip Drive On A Mac Plus Mac Plus and...

Can no longer print in OS 9

Here's the Drivers for the HP Deskjet 940 for Mac OS 8 & 9. Reinstalling them might help. Also, is this printer connected directly, or is it shared from another computer?

Wireless USB Adapter works with G3 iBook

There aren't any iBook G3s with built-in USB 2.0. So yeah that would be the bottleneck.

Creating a real 1.4MB floppy from a .dsk image under Windows

I like using Rawwrite for Windows. Which is just a GUI version of Rawwrite. It hasn't been updated for a while so I don't know how well it works for Vista/7.

    Cool looking floppy disks

I seem to recall our family having a big ol' box of disks like those when I was a kid. (But branded.) I think we might have the box with a disk or two still in it. I'll see what the brand was on mine.

SE/30 with Micron Xceed Grayscale & Socketed Daystar Acceler

Found this applefritter topic where someone posted the rom dump and some assembler files. He also shared the schematics here. I have re-uploaded the rom dump file with the proper file extension here: http://www.mediafire.com/?84wasyd26m74y6l Not sure if there's anything that will help, but it...

original Mac interleaved memory controller details

After doing some more googling all I could come up with was this: http://retro.co.za/ccc/mac/index.html He mentions someone called "Kryten Droid" who made some info on the PALs, but the link to Kryten's website is dead. And web.archive.org only has the homepage and directory of the files. Not...

original Mac interleaved memory controller details

Well it turns out our own member H3NRY made schematics back in 1984 with MacDraw. JDW has made a PDF of the schematics for modern viewing. We're all very excited about your "Plus Too" project. And I'm sure most of us will be watching your site frequently for updates. ;) Edit: Oh, just found...
