    Is my Apple III dead?

I think I understood the TarnX after the fact, as a alternate solution for the grit paper. Make sense. It was smelling like if something burned in the house. In fact, even my wife when she came to the baseman said: what is burning here, it smell fire. One thing I can be sure of, the last...

    Is my Apple III dead?

Thanks Lisa for all the details. I should have specified I already had investigated the matter lightly, and my III has the 5V board with 2 rows, one being empty. I looked into it, and could not find the the "C13 341-0062 (128K)" reference, but I guess it is the one. I guess what I need it the...

    Is my Apple III dead?

To be honest with you, I did not really believed it would be a great idea. I did not dropped it 3 inches, maybe one inch at most. If anything, the bad smell coming from the computer was a sign that some components were falling, and I knew bad sitting of chips were probably not to blame.  Thanks...

    Is my Apple III dead?

Another thing I forgot to ask. I know that this Apple III have only 128 meg of RAM and it can probably be expanded easily to 256k by adding more chips in the empty sockets on the RAM board. Where can I buy compatible chips for this upgrade? And what should I look for? Thanks

    Is my Apple III dead?

I removed the motherboard and investigated the RAM chips. All of them looked very well sited in their sockets. I prefer not trying to remove them and put them back as I'm afraid they may break or break the sockets themselves. But one thing that I can tell for sure, the bad smell is coming from...

    Is my Apple III dead?

Hi all, I have an Apple III that has been sitting in my storage for a while. Now that I have space to put it on, I installed it and started playing with it. It has an Apple II emulation card, and a parallel card installed. I was trying to make it work with my CFFA3000 card. I also bought from...

Apple III in need of some care

The different angles of door is something I have not been thinking about much. Your argument makes lot of senses... But how do you suggest I proceed to repair that little pin that is broken? (see the pictures) Nothing glued there will be strong enough to support the door closing/opening...

Apple III in need of some care

I have an Apple III I bought many years ago from a member of this forum. Can't remember who, sadly! I have not started it in years, but I know it needs some care. The first thing is the floppy door on the main unit. The flap that close the door and put the floppy heads on the disk is broken. It...

Trying to revive some of my machines LC III and Performa 6115cd

Humm, I guess I do not need 2500 of them, especially that I will requires many different ones, which makes probably over 10000+ total. Wow... Are you reselling them to us if asked (and have them available too)?

Trying to revive some of my machines LC III and Performa 6115cd

Hi Uniserver, Thanks, but no thanks! You really helped me choose something that look very cool, but you also relaxed my pockets by $150 U plan expenses! I think it is for the best, I hope. I'll just need to be patient, but with a kit like this things look easier than with a standard soldering...

Hi Uniserver, Is this what you're talking about: http://addison-electronique.com/catalog/category/view/s/station-a-souder-et-accessoires/id/146/?p=2 It is called XYTRONIC, maybe just a typo on your side. If so, which model do you recommend? That company will also probably have the...
