Encryption is not quite important at all. Because all WEP is easy to crack no matter 64bit or 128bit. I won't use PB to shop in amazon anyway :)
All I want is to find a way to transfer files between my Intel Mac and Powerbook easily.
How about any CF card that supports ethernet? I bought...
Even in Mac OS 8.6, I can't make TCP/IP connection. I will return the card and find another one. Thanks for your guidance!
This time, I will ask sellers about hardware version.
BTW, can firmware get updated? Eg, flash firmware so that it supports harden encryption. But hardware can't be...
I can't make it work under 7.6. But I make it in 8.6. It shows version:
Hardwar 5.0
Primary Firmware: 4.4
Station Firmware: 8.35
Do you know if it is older firmware you refer to?
Thanks for your link! I saw the LED on PCMICA card is blinking. I'm not sure if it is working or not. I have to find a secondary router to enable WEP encryption. My ASUS AC router doesn't support WEP or no encryption any more.
My Powerbook 1400c runs smoothly in 7.6, 8.0 and 8.1. It becomes sluggish in 8.5 and 8.6.
It is cumbersome for me to exchange files for Intel Mac to OS below 8.1. I have to copy stuffs to 8.6 and boot it from 8.6 from CF card and then copy it to 7.6.
Recently I bought a Orinoco gold wireless...
I gave up to keep on opening it. First of all, there are way too many screw. Secondly, I believe I need to figure it out what causes the over heating, otherwise there is no point to open it.
There are several potential culprits:
thermal pad is not touching CPU/GPU/north bridge
hard drive...
I still haven't opened it all the way to the heat sink. There are so many different types of Philip screws with tiny different length. I'm pretty sure I will mess them up.
I have to order a pill organizer with at least 20+ containers to properly store them (order this one...
I left a seller good feedback. The box works like a champ after 48 hours compiling macport stuffs. Just overheat is an issues.
I found a link below about open firmware:

I wonder if it is ok to boot Mac OS from external USB SSD
I put iBook on the top of 'Introduction to Algorithm' book. The book is thick as brick. I leave a left side out and put a fan blowing on the left. It compiled macport stuff for my project overnight. With the active external fan cooling, I don't feel any heat on left palm. But it is not an...
@Elfen
I'm snooping the post regarding to replace IDE hd to SSD. But I wonder if the speed really helps that much due to slow IDE interface.
I can't find iBook G4 IDE interface specs. Can it reach as high as IDE 2 133MB/s? I found that you used PATA2 kingspecs. But it doesn't sell in amazon...
I just owned a used iBook G4 for my PPC emulation project. But after some compiling, I can feel that the left palm is hot!
I haven't opened the case. But it seems that hard drive is the culprit:

The previous...
I bought a iBook G4 from ebay for my emulation development. It comes with apple hardware test DVD.
I followed the instruction to restart and hold C key. But I boot into open firmware, the top show:
Invalid memory access at %SRR0: 00032df8 %SRR1: 00003030
...
The screen ask me either type...
I found this interesting link when I bought ordoid-xu4 for my another project:

The acrylic case looks very cool. But I don't like aluminum reinforcement bars.
There is more detail on page 38...
I have fixed sheep_net module and pull request have been merged to BasilikII git repo https://github.com/cebix/macemu/commit/c2b519ee1ea848ac827e68cd1d536b3464b79ed1
Can you be more specific on which Basilik II version or commit it can run?
I'm not an expert on Linux device programming. But I really want to fix Basilik II networking for Fedora 20 with 3.15.x kernel.
So far I think I have fixed sheep_net module (partially). The module can be compiled in modern kernel. I can ping to outside URL and ftp to the server in local...
Very cool stuff.
I used to have trouble in finding the proper development tool. After reading some old mac magazine, I figured out that the easiest way to get the tool set is to get a Apple E.T.O CD. It got MPW, Mac App, MacBugs, SADE and detailed documentation. Everything that you can dream of...
