Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
The board looks perfect, top and bottom. So I don't know.
Maybe my IIci spread a disease to it while they were in the closet together this past year...
Regardless, I'm more willing to screw with the LC III to keep it viable than I am the IIci. The LC III, majestically sitting next to a garbage...
You might wanna check. I assumed mine was the PSU as well, but it's definitely the speaker.
Once on, it goes quit every now and then only to start the whine again a few seconds later. Definitely not something that being powered on for a while cures.
When powered on, my LC III intermittently emits whining noises in varying tones through its speaker. I've swapped the speaker to no avail.
The kicker is that if I touch miscellaneous chips on the motherboard with varying degrees of pressure, I can alter the pitch and repetition rate of the...
I've wanted a 3400 for years. But I'm not willing to settle for anything other than top processor spec and top cosmetic condition.
And auctions for 3400s that match those criteria usually exceed my price range.
Well, feel free to tell me how to fix a bad floppy bus, no sound, and really wonky NuBus aside from replacing the entire logic board and I'll consider it.
My 7.6.1 retail CD finally arrived. So I installed it on my only SCSI hard drive with my LC III and then put the drive in the IIci. The IIci does take to it and boots, with no problems whatsoever once booted.
But in addition to the leaking around the sound chips noted above, the same leaking is...
I'm in the midst of a SCSI drought at the moment. The only working SCSI drve I have at the moment is a 320MB drive that I'm having to swap between the 6115, IIci and LC III. Even my 9600's 73GB drive hasn't arrived yet.
And even though I've got this one drive, it's blank until my 7.6.1...
Good to know. Not sure I'll bother replacing them though.
Neither disk is particular. One is a general System 7.5 boot floppy for 68k machines, the other is simply disk 1 of the System 7.5 install from Apple's site. I've had the disks for years and have used them in a number of 68k machines...
The 9200LE is different enough from the 9200 that flashing an LE for Mac isn't possible. They're really quite different architecturally. And if it is possible, I've yet to see anybody do it.
The item pictured in the auction in question is a legit Mac Edition card. Same goes for a number of...
I have a Mac IIci that I picked up online well over a year ago. It was filthy, and at the time I didn't have the necessary equipment to test it, so the first thing I did upon receiving it was throughly clean it and put it away.
This past weekend, I decided to give her a go. But I seem to be...
When I was a little kid, I tore down an old black and white TV. I wound up removing the 'cap' on the neck of the CRT and put my finger in the hole.
I will remember the result for as long as I live.
Luckily, it was a small TV.
I don't know why so many eBay sellers list their 9200 Mac Editions as 9200LEs. They're killing the potential sale price. The 9200LE was neutered trash and the 9200 Mac Edition isn't an LE.
