    Mac Portable Issues with ZuluSCSI

Where did you get one of those? Seems to be hard to find (or stupid expensive for a totally passive thingy with twe connectors on a pcb)

    Mac Portable Issues with ZuluSCSI

It definitely doesn't have term power on the external DB25, whatever you stick in there needs power from somewhere else, the internal scsi is something special anyway...

Macintosh Portable is suddenly flaky / unstable, not sure what's up

Re-celled battery 7 years ago? Lead acid cells (as they should be in a portable) die on you in the blink of an eye when left to deep discharge. One of the things with those portables, they're never really "off", more like in an always "stand-by" state, so always keep discharging the battery at a...

    PowerBook Duo 280c

Oooh, high requirements! Shufflepuck café will do it for me 😁😁

    PowerBook Duo 280c

The grey scale active matrix screens have the tunnel vision issue. The, otherwise total crap, passive matrix greyscale displays (found on the duo 230 and I think 250) don't suffer from it!

    PowerBook Duo 280c

Try to find a duodock for it! I have one, it's one of my more prized items in my collection, with the fpu, nubus graphics card and extra HDD, it turns that tiny laptop into a decent powerhouse (for it's era).

    SE/30 White Screen

I can give you an address in Belgium for the recap. Shipping shouldn't cost too much. Guy recapped mine (and a bunch of other vintage logic board, including my Mac portable), does a professional job. Very honest price as well. Feel free to PM me if you'd like more info.

Hybrid from Portable on the way out?

Not that long, about 6 weeks? Tested with a 25 watt motorbike lightbulb, voltage hardly drops under the 4amp load! So I doubt it's battery related. It's a roughly 7month old sealed motorbike battery...

Hybrid from Portable on the way out?

I have a fully functional, recapped Portable (m5120). Never had any problems with it. Hadn't used it in a while. Just today took it out to use for a bit, discharge and charge the lead battery a few times (stored outside the portable). However, with the battery fully charged (6.7V), the...

Swapping screens between Powerbook Duo 230 and Duo 250

Anybody knows if the displays are interchangeable? The 250 uses an active matrix screen, the 230 a passive matrix. Talking about swapping the complete screen with housing and all, just wondering the connector on the mainboard is exactly the same, I would guess it is, as otherwise the machine...

    Unknown Mac SE PDS card

Pressumably it would work with an se/30 as well (same pds port afaik). If I could find a monitor for it, would make a very nice dtp machine with PageMaker or something along those lines...

    Unknown Mac SE PDS card

I found following: https://www.mail-archive.com/compact.macs@mail.maclaunch.com/msg09806.html So looks like it's for a fpd monitor, only the "Mirrors fpd monitor" he mentions I can't find anything about on the internet...

    Unknown Mac SE PDS card

Cleaning up a Mac SE for a friend (Miniscribe didn't work anymore), got it back to work perfectly nice. But, when I got it, I noticed an extra DB 9 connector on the back, never seen one before. After opening the machine up, the DB9 connector was patched up to a PDS card installed in the...

More then 8MB on Mac SE/30 with stock ROM

Keep hunting! You never know when you'll get lucky. I know I did when I finally got my hands on a non-battery bombed machine, with only some very mild cap leakage resulting in but the mildest surface corrosion... Working/recapped ones start go for silly money, the SE/30 is well on the way...

More then 8MB on Mac SE/30 with stock ROM

The SE/30 is so much more fun to work with then a regular SE (of which I have two). Way smoother and faster! Boots in just a couple of seconds, once the memtest is complete. In combination with a BlueSCSI it almost feels like a modern day computer (considering the obvious limitations)... I use...

More then 8MB on Mac SE/30 with stock ROM

The joys of vintage computing... The above version of Hypercard (1.2.5) refuses to run when 32 bit enabled, have to revert to 24 bt/8MB to make it work.

More then 8MB on Mac SE/30 with stock ROM

Hypercard, hmmm, scratches head and runs of to storage cabinet... And look what I found :) Lets get cracking!

More then 8MB on Mac SE/30 with stock ROM

And that is why we turn to the experts :) Setting "32-bit adressing" to on in the memory control panel did the trick. Thanks heaps!

More then 8MB on Mac SE/30 with stock ROM

Hi, I just received my 16MB (4X4MB) purple ram, which supposedly should work in my SE/30. As I only have the stock ROM, I kept the 4 original 1MB simm's in bank A, and put the four 4MB simm's in bank B. Put mode 32 on it (am running system 7.1 on the SE/30). Weird thing is, the new simm's are...
