The B/W G3 tower is one of my favs. It can be finicky when it comes to installing RAM, but it is an absolute workhorse. Mine is currently sporting a gray ZIP drive bezel from a Sawtooth G4 because I never got around to finding a blue one years ago. :)
I still have a few SyQuest drives from the '90s. A couple 44mb drives and a 270mb drive with plenty of media. We used to do our daily backups on them. Great, reliable drives and they make a very distinct sound :)
Our press room at work has used this trusty little fella as an employee time clock for years. This means it's been exposed to ink, grease, spray powder and all sorts of things. There's so much spray powder inside the case, you can see it shift around when you move the unit. Definitely gonna take...
Sorry for the total silence from me for the past week -- woke up last Saturday feeling a little "off." Made the drive to Cincinnati to pick up the Quadra and by the time I left the guy's house I knew I was getting sick fast. Ended up missing 4 days of work this week due to flu and bronchitis...
That's what I'm hoping. The AV Quadras weren't your run-of-the-mill desktop publishing stations, they were used for a specific purpose (usually). One of the rarer Centris 660AVs would be a nice find, but I haven't seen one for sale in years.
The Quadra 840AV I found a couple years back came...
Heading to Cincinnati tomorrow morning to pick up a Quadra 660AV I found on craigslist. Guy is the original owner and the machine has been well cared-for. Says he has some other goodies I might be interested in, too. Will post pics when I get home!
Yep, I reset Safari, wiped the cahce, etc ... same with Camino. Plenty of free space on the drive -- about 30gb.
Haven't checked Activity Monitor yet -- will try that tonight, I think.
How do I do the traceroute? (networking noob, I am)
By the way, this isn't happening on any of my other...
My 1.25GHz PowerBook G4 has been running pretty well since I acquired it -- it's going to eventually need a new HD, but suddenly a new issue has popped up. If I go to google.com or any site that connects to google in any way, the page takes FOREVER to load.
I made sure AdBlock didn't have any...
Well done!
I'm still rocking my 1st-gen (2006) Mac Pro. It's a dual 2GHz system running OS 10.6.8 on a 150gb 10,000rpm Velociraptor HD. I've upped the RAM to 6gb and can go much higher if needed. My home business is graphic design, and it runs the latest Adobe CS6 software VERY well. I have...
I still use my 3400 regularly. Get yourself a MacWireless 11b PC Card:

I've had mine for years. :) Yes, they're a tad pricey, but there's no tweaking, hacking or driver-searching. Install the software, plug it...
I picked up several 15" Dell E153FPF monitors from a company that was going out of business, as well as an E170S. I've tried both models on my Quadra 840AV with one of those adapters that has the dip switches, and nothing seems to work. I've gone thru the gamut of settings on the dip switches...
Still doing this... got sidetracked when I got a new job. The IIfx is still in pieces on my workbench, but I've kind of made room for a Quadra 840AV project I'm working on...
