Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
As I mentioned in the WTB thread, I've hit a snag and may have to reconstruct the %*$#@ 550 wiring loom I have. I've taken the SCSI ribbon off of a Color Classic connector and replaced it before, so I stupidly assumed I could repeat the process with the 550's. Stripped several metal contacts...
How fast does it boot from ROM with 4MB?
The CD-ROM is external, so use it! You can always move it over to the LCII when you need it.
Lemmings. Also go find a copy of Star Wars for it. Make it a nice little black and white arcade machine.
Go with the mouse that matches the machine best, then...
From what I understand about the compacts (including the SE/30), because the video timing comes from the lobo, you can't OC them. Maybe with an external monitor, but then what's the point?
No handle does discourage students/patrons from picking it up and trying to walk out with it. Unfortunately I would guess it would also encourage them to put gum wrappers/paper/trash in the new slots on top.
I was asking about System 7 sounds because I would swear I was able to play them on my Plus.
I just used SoundApp (in 9.2.2 Classic OS mode in 10.2.8 on a G4 wind tunnel) to turn a WAV version of "Dance the Night Away" by Van Halen into a System 7 Sound. It's 15 MB (about half the size of the...
If it is running a version of System 7 you can make the sound a System 7 Sound file and it'll play just fine. My Mac Plus with 7.0.1 plays the theme from Ms. Pacman upon startup.
"SoundApp" on a QuickTime 3+ capable Mac should be able to make System 7 Sound files for you. I think there is a...
Should the title of this thread maybe be changed to Warning! Exploding Old PRAM Batteries?
It's been pretty conclusively shown that, although Maxells may be particularly prone, all old PRAM batteries are ticking time bombs.
I'd hate somebody to pop open their LCIII (or whatever) see a 20 year...
Excellent. I went ahead and bought that adapter, just in case :)
Here's to hoping it isn't necessary! It'll be a hamned dandy thing to have around anyhow.
I will try connecting the Composite signal to the H-Sync. Just in case though...
If I was to use one of those Belkin adapters, to which pin on the Mac side should I connect the Composite Sync signal? H-Sync?
That particular Belkin adapter is easy to find and cheap on eBay.
(Awesome link btw.)
I'm trying to take the video signal from a 575's wiring loom out to a VGA monitor. The 575 sends out RGB and Composite sync, and the monitor is expecting VGA (RGB + Horizontal and Vertical syncs).
My research (you know, 5 minutes of Googling) has led me to this chip which seems to be a sync...
I may take you up on carving a chassis-channel for the comm-slot, but I'm going to exhaust my options with the on-board 575 video before I go shopping for more cards.
If i wanted to pipe cables back into the case, I would just use the 605 board and save the hassle of messing with the wiring...
Yup. This'll pretty much be a monochrome Takky hack. (Blakky?) Some careful carving on the Classic rear end and the 575 back-door should result in a decent rear view. (Cool side effect, I should be able to slide out the logic-board like a real CC-6500 Mac).
I'm really hoping to use the...
Yup. As long as this idea has taken to come to reality, coming up on a year or so, I've had plenty of time to change everything about the insides.
The 575 board is still very much true to the original concept. Still a 33MHz Quadra brain, still capable of grayscale VGA+, Ethernet, etc. But I...
Moving on, I will need to get the video signals out of the loom's Analog Board connector.
The following is stolen from the Frogeye link earlier in this thread.

I first encountered the Classic II in 94 when I was trying to get the other teachers at my new grown-up job to use email. Unfortunately, the CII's lack of a slot to put a network card in put it out of the race pretty quickly. I needed 10Base-T, and the best a CII could do was AppleTalk. (Even...
