I got a Pinecil last year and it works great! Super happy with it, I feel no need to upgrade. Recapped maybe 30 logic boards with it by now. Tiny, heats up really fast, runs off of one my my macbook charger, really convenient since I live in an apartment and space is limited.

I always slice the clip off of the logic board power connector on the compacts so it's easier to disconnect without accodents 😄

Just have to say that my dream scenario for pre-G4 PPC is exactly this: System 7.6.1 (with Speed Doubler) is a fantastic experience - 8 and up feels baggy and I personally don't like the look for beige-era power macs. But that RAM check sure takes time! Fingers crossed you can figure this out 😄

You can also force it to boot from a specific SCSI ID by holding down command + option + shift + backspace + [id] at startup, this was really useful for me when I copied the wrong OS on the IDE drive. It definitely works on my Multisync monitor, so this seems to be on the Eizo's (and other flatscreens) inability to read the video signal. Now I want to find out if modern flatscreens with support for higher refresh rates can work 😗
