Yellow-ish beige.
The actual color is kind of a trade secret, I guess - VingtageMicros was selling repainted /// cases for a while on ebay, reproducing the exact color and process that Apple used. You might ask them if they can help you.
You mean upside-down, right? That's one of the most clever and original easter eggs out there.
You will have a hard time with that. The original disk is protected - also cleverly. There has been chatter on the CFFA3000 board recently about various Karateka images that do and do not work with...
That is strange. Can you get into the menu with CALL -14544?
Also, do you see anything different if you hit 'M' soon after powering on? I don't think sitting on the key and then powering up will work in all cases, but then I never tried it either... I always hit the key after the power.
If you read through the blog, you'll see that some items shipped earlier in the year - but some updates were required before another batch was made. Nothing has gone on since then, though. Cederic has posted on c.s.a2 before, so you did good by asking there too.
I watch floppy disks pretty closely on eBay. People have a hard time giving away 5.25" HD media - almost nothing is able to use them (who has a PC-AT any more?). The Apple II is certainly not capable of using them. No drive that is designed for DD media will work correctly with them. The...
That file needs to be text - not binary, not basic, but plain text in order to be EXEC'ed.
When doing this low-level bootstrapping of un-shrinking software by hand, I found software in this directory to be very useful:

Of...
I agree, pictures guts would be nice. But the 'shrine's raison d'être is aesthetics, not necessarily technical detail. No serial number because this was an engineering sample; they weren't ever put on sale.
Sorry, I can't help with original prices.
You might also want to surf on over to the Apple II Documentation Project for more details about hardware:

No, it's RS-232 serial.
Printers, modems, etc. ;-)
No.
This is a CP/M card...
I think you want to clean the drive head. Or had you done that wile it was apart? If not, you might want to give the head a gentle swipe with a Qtip and isopropyl alcohol. This video is for cleaning an older, boxier drive - but the concept is the same:
In terms of assembly language, the Apple II family has arguably the most approachable built-in tools for the assembly programmer. It's a good choice for that.
The IIc+ is nice because it's almost all-in-one; and doesn't have a silly brick-on-a-rope power supply like the IIc does. The downside...
Have you verified if you can write a file on one of the known-good disks? I.e. can your disk write at all? On ProDOS, try:
NEW
10 PRINT "HELLO, WORLD"
SAVE HELLO
NEW
LOAD HELLO
LIST
Does it save without error?
Does your program re-appear?
The function of the device (DTE vs. DCE) and the wires connecting them was what I was referring to earlier, confusing you. Here is a decent explanation of the terms:
http://ckp.made-it.com/dtedce.html
The functionality of a null modem is to cross the send and receive lines of a serial...
Yes - it's a function of the jumper block of the SSC that you can switch that makes it possible to use either a null or straight cable. All other types of serial connections (IIc, IIc+, Laser 128, Franklin 500, IIgs) need to have a null modem.
There really isn't room to talk about all the possible permutations without scaring folks off. But with the switch block, the SSC can use either a straight-through or null modem.
You can't use 3-1/2" drives on either of those cards, period.
You only need a straight through if you have a SSC, since it can play both DTE and DCE roles. Even with a USB cable in the middle. :-)
