Your post reminds me that I had a similar issue with a Radius video board. If it was installed, the mouse would be frozen. It is also a recapped logic board. ??
@Toni_ Thanks so much for working on this project! I had the same track pad issue, where my first tap was sensed, but then I had to click it on my laptop.
Subscribing to further updates. :)
Nice project. Is putting an LCD behind tube glass a thing? Just wondering if it has been proven out already since it seems like the image quality would be affected by the non-coupled glass-panel interfaces. But I like the goal of trying to emulate the original look of the curved glass since the...
I thought the original design dougg3 made used standard eeprom chips that you can pop in and out. I believe that design is open source.
There was someone who didn’t know what they were doing trying to undercut his later 8mb design, which is somewhat difficult to make for a hobbyist anyway, but...
Yes, V1 from that archive. I am running System 7.5.3 with the 1.8b1 extension. I think the ROM is based on a IIsi and has patched the ROM/RAM check and has a boot disk, the ROM SIMM was built by Doug. It looks like you are running an older OS, I wonder if you might get to a further debug point...
@GeekDot I am not sure if I followed what you did, but I tried v1 control panel (linked on the first page) and the Startup Carrera extension with a 32-bit clean ROM. Here is the screen that came up:
I have a Sonnet branded version of the IIsi adapter and it looks almost the same as the MicroMac version, except it is missing the capacitor through-holes. I am guessing that the Mobius Speedster I have would work with that adapter. I think the Sonnet 040 accelerator looks different than the...
Turning off the RAM check is a nice feature. I also like having an OS so I can boot up in case something happens with a disk image or I need to switch from a patched OS to an unpatched one while testing hardware. I can see why you'd want to stick with the regular logos. I have one that has a...
Cool, I'll try to give this a shot with the Mobius Speedster. Will it work with any IIci Cache to 030 PDS adapter? I am not sure if mine came with an adapter. I think if it did, it looked like the 2-slot adapter with no chips onboard.
What about the Sonnet 040 accelerator, is it the same pedigree?
It works ok with a stock ROM, but once I switch to a 32-bit clean ROM and re-patch the OS, it won't shut down properly unless a real HDD is in the chain. I thought with all the custom ROMs floating around, there's got to be someone else that has experience with this configuration.
Awesome development here!
I am just reading through the threads here, so it looks like the compatibility matrix hasn't changed with this board compared to a TwinSpark right?
I have been trying to use either a SCSI2SD V5 or V6 with a SE/30 (with hacked ROM) and it would not shut down properly. I kept thinking it was the sequence in which I patched and upgraded to System 7.5.5 and then one time I had a real HDD (68 pin type) in the mix and then it was able to go to...
Is there a major difference in supporting 100 vs 10 Mbps?
Would support for 68000 be similar to existing emulators like Basilisk vMac? Their emulation does have issues with fully supporting programs like the real hardware. The battery also helps keep time, but I guess you can use NTP to auto...
Zane, I am not up to the particulars of this project, but it sounds really interesting and to answer your initial question, I'm interested in your future product. Is it more of an emulator than an accelerator board?
I think you can play Lode Runner if you don't click the mouse in the screen (stick to key controls). Pretty sure I even played it on 7+, but I do remember it crashing by clicking the mouse. Maybe there's a fix....
