I am also hoping to get a kit when they become available. I wonder if a commercial version of this form factor will end up being made. It makes the BlueSCSI V2 Pico DB25 looks huge!
I could see it may be possible to design the case so that the drive is a small bump on the back that is...
The first ebay listing you linked is the same designer as the Shapeways gear, but the eBay listing is "V2" and the Shapeways one is "V1".
The fine detail plastic looks to be this one: https://www.shapeways.com/materials/fine-detail-plastic-3
Bummer to hear about the issues with the "V2"...
@zigzagjoe I am looking to print your clips with MJF. I also ordered some thermal tape from Digikey to try out. PSA generally needs ~14 psi applied for some amount of time to get proper adhesion and clean surfaces, but the ceramic might be more difficult to stick to.
Wow, I wouldn't have thought this would be possible based on the original layout! It's nice to have the board more flush with the back of the computer case so it is less likely to get knocked into or bent. Looking forward to seeing more of this variant.
My interpretation of Dog Cow's writing is we would need to go over to his forum and start regularly participating there. (But it is probably already too late for that.) The software he is hosting is not bringing value to the site where he was hoping to build a community, so he took it down. The...
My monitor does not light up the green LED when powered on. There is an audible whine that is probably lower frequency than what a CRT monitor typically makes since I don't think I can easily hear up to that frequency any longer. So I am guessing the power supply circuitry needs to be fixed. Is...
Nice, that's an elegant design with the combined flexure and latching.
Let me know if you are interested in letting go of the potential future second SocketCarrera in the future. 🤤
@Chopsticks Yeah, I was wondering if any new adapters had come about in the bast few years. I tested an adapter bbraun made based on an STM32 dev board a long time ago so I have been interested in finding a simple and small microcontroller board with USB host capability to tinker with that runs...
Oh wow, what a great idea! Are these one-offs or are you planning on making more?
Thanks for the part number for the 040 heatsink, I needed to get one. Do you have a recommendation on what thermal tape to use?
Great looking design. I'm guessing the RP2040 will eventually get an upgrade so it may useful to have that part of the design remain modular.
Does the wifi work ok inside a case with shielding?
That's a nice one. I enjoy the creativity and whimsy of the older games the Miller bros made. The newer stuff I didn't really get into, but probably should revisit again.
I read some wisdom here that the cable harness between the analog board and the logic board can become flaky with age. I had a machine that wouldn't consistently turn on (mostly wouldn't) and swapped the harness out and it seems to be fine now.
