Hi Dirk,
I keep coming back to this thread, this is such a cool setup. Where did you get the black riser piece that the PowerBook is sitting on? That’s a nice piece of design, I’m wondering if you bought it or made it?
Cheers,
Joel
Looks like I will have to download and try all of them and see what works! Thanks for the link, that looks like a very comprehensive resource. Will report back.

Another vote for the Floppy EMU. Once you’ve read the manual it really does “just work” and it’s a beautifully designed and conceived bit of kit. Very happy with mine.
Now that I have my SE booting again (yay!) I'd like to connect it to my Ethernet network.
I have one of these:
2nd pic is the little daughter card that attaches to the back of the SE. Anyone know what it is and where I might find drivers for it? I'm running System 6.0.8.
Cheers,
Joel
Thanks to everyone for their contributions on this. I got the Brother, and will have to figure out how to print from classic Macs, for now I will stick with PDF > Sneakernet usb stick into the printer
Thanks for that detailed explanation. Would those solutions work the other way around, allowing say a Mac SE running LaserWriter driver on system 6.0.8 to print to a modern laser printer emulating postscript on a TCP/IP Ethernet network?
Hi everyone
I need a new colour laser printer. My IT guy is recommending the following - will this work with system 6/7 Macs on the same network running the LaserWriter driver? Not easy to tell
Brother MFC-L8690CDW
Just out of interest while we're talking about it, let's say I put an Ethernet card in my Colour Classic, what software would I need to bridge the 2 network interfaces?
Presumably this would slow the poor old CC down even more but there we are. The problem with this approach is you need to...
Thank you, understood.
Great though this project is, what would be even more useful is a modern gizmo that replaces the Asante. It can't be that hard, presumably the Apple serial port is a standard part. Mind you that's easy for me to say, I have none of the skills required to create such a...
Apologies if this is a really stupid question but what is the physical interface between my Classic Macs on their LocalTalk network and the Ethernet network? As the pi doesn't have serial port.
They make a *fabulous* MacOS 9 workstation. Super fast. A few things don't work like sleep but that's less important on a desktop. A bit of messing about to get the install done in the first place admittedly
Hi everyone,
Is there a guide to repairing / rebuilding an FDHD drive? The one in my SE is not working. I have to shove the disk in quite hard, it doesn't have that servo-assisted action it should have, nor does it read disks.
Is there a "howto" on this? I've tried a good cleanup and...
