Found the speaker under the hard drive. The service manual is here:

It does chime but the sound is very weak - I can barely hear it. I'l have to pull the board to see if the contacts are corroded.
Thanks!
I rescued a IIsi. It was missing the PRAM battery. Put in a new one, set it up and powered on. Nothing. Un plugged it, plugged it bac in. Powered on, the computer booted. :) It's running 7.0.1 and has 5 MB RAM.
When I reboot or cold start it boots just fine BUT I get no chime. I...
Dennis,
When I changed the battery I looked for leakage and found none - board is clean around the battery area. I guess I'll have to re-cap it. When I do I will pull the battey holder and look closer.
Around 1988 or so I had a Mac Plus with the Radius Full Page display. Some time in the 90's the tube died and I couldn't find anyone to fix it so I tossed it (UGH! :( )
Today I was cleaning out my storage center and I find the cable that connects the FPD to the Mac Plus.
If anyone needs...
Dug my IIci out of storage and pluged it in. It powers on with the keyboard switch but:
1. no chime
2. no video. I'm using a VGA adapter that works well with my Quadra 605.
So I took every card out of it. changed the battery with the one from my Q605.
Took all memory out except two sims...
The AKAI has a logic board. The display is 2 lines of 16 chacters. The Akai OS is, well, limited. It's a pain to configure SCSI devices using the Akai OS.
The Mac has mucho better tools.
I found a new use for my Qudra 605. I recently bought a mid-90's Akai S2000 sampler for my studio. I needed to build an external SCSI cas to hold a CD-ROM, ZIP, and 500mb hard drive.
I used SCSI Prob 3.5 to verify that the SCSI devices were set on the prober IDs - 5 for the hard drive, 4 for...
I'm on the PM 9500 with iCab 3.0.5!!!!! System is 9.2.2
I tried logging in with IE 5.1.7 but it doesn't render the MLA index page correctly :(
And I'm running wireless 54g from my dining room! Wo Ho!
Next is to try the Quadra 605!
I finished my 2nd tour of Iraq and am now back in Georgia! I dragged out my Quadra 605 and have it running again. Today I got my PM 9500 working with the Sonnet G4 800 MHz upgrade (had to drop the RAM down to 1 GB).
Next up is to get my IICi and LC II w/the Apple IIe card running again. I'll...
I had a similar issue with my Quadra 605. Set the res too high for the 1024 x 768 VGA monitor and lost the screen. The only way I got it back was to hook up a monitor that did 1280 x 1024.
Pain in the rear!
Thanks! I used AppleTalk to print to my LaserWriter with my 128k but must have moved files with my upgraded 128K MacPlus machine.
I really need to get my 128 set up again.
I thought the 128K Mac coud do Appleshare over AppleTalk using System 3.2 & Finder 5.3. I might be wrong and don't have my 128k set up.
The Appletalk to Ethernet bridge is the solution. I set one up in 2003 but got rid of it in 2006 when I had to move.
My B&W gave me fits until I did a firmware update on it. I went from 8.6 to 9.2 to 10.4

The Revision 1 B&W G3 works nicely if you don't try to overdrive the IDE port. I just use a 12GB hard dirve and added a PCI IDE card for...
Ditto on the termination issue. Check the external drive to make sure it is not internally terminated.
Also, pull off the terminator and add a second external SCSII device (make it SCSI ID 1 or 2). See what happens.
