Dennis, When I changed the battery I looked for leakage and found none - board is clean around the battery area. I guess I'll have to re-cap it. When I do I will pull the battey holder and look closer.

I'd bump the RAM to 128MB and get the cache card if you don't have one.

The AKAI has a logic board. The display is 2 lines of 16 chacters. The Akai OS is, well, limited. It's a pain to configure SCSI devices using the Akai OS. The Mac has mucho better tools.

I had a similar issue with my Quadra 605. Set the res too high for the 1024 x 768 VGA monitor and lost the screen. The only way I got it back was to hook up a monitor that did 1280 x 1024. Pain in the rear!

I thought the 128K Mac coud do Appleshare over AppleTalk using System 3.2 & Finder 5.3. I might be wrong and don't have my 128k set up. The Appletalk to Ethernet bridge is the solution. I set one up in 2003 but got rid of it in 2006 when I had to move.

Ditto on the termination issue. Check the external drive to make sure it is not internally terminated. Also, pull off the terminator and add a second external SCSII device (make it SCSI ID 1 or 2). See what happens.
