Twentieth Anniversary Macintosh - Hail to the king, baby!

Excellent news JS! Beats ebay anyday! Plus I get to hear about ye olde tech being put to good use! While being only a 400Mhz/512 cache card, it still made a huge difference on my 6500 Its a pity that USB 1.1 was/will never be implemented for Mac OS 7.6.1, as it screams with the sonnet card...

2 QuickTake 100s, still trying to make a complete unit!

300k pixel resolution! 8 shots @640x480 on its 1mb memory. The pictures resemble those from early mobile phones. It does turn heads in the streets though, someone asked me once if I was Han Solo!

    Not rare but unusual thread.

An AirDock is an infrared transceiver that hooks up to the printer or modem port on a desktop mac. This peripheral is certainly unusual. Not many desktop macs were Irda capable, the only one that comes to mind is the original imac. Take a looky: http://sysdoc.doors.ch/FARALLON/airdock.pdf

Anyone else noticed the rise in value of compact Macs?

Yep. I recently sold an SE FDHD for $AU212.50. I put in a half a gig drive and it did come with an extended keyboard, adb mouse, zip drive and a macrecorder. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/120791825980?ssPageName=STRK%3AMESOX%3AIT&_trksid=p3984.m1559.l2649 Funny thing is the Sydney Theatre...

Slot loading drive in an Indigo Clamshell?

I've installed the drive into the Pismo and it works fine. I already have a DVD drive set to master in the clamshell that was pulled from a busted white ibook. I won't be able to burn and it is ugly and tricky to eject, but at least I can play dvd's on it :) I had a gander at this...

Excellent news kingchops! Must be cool to see the web on a powerbook 520c! What browser are you using? icab is low overhead on your system: http://ftp.tu-clausthal.de/pub/Mac/iCab/iCab_Pre2.99b_English_68k.sit Using a serial cable you could also network the plus and powerbook with local...

    Powerbook 530c networking system 7.6.1

Good stuff. TomeViewer is a mighty handy application for extracting needed files from a system install: http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/tomeviewer btw, if you can get hold of an HDI-30 SCSI cable, SCSI Disk Mode might be another way of getting files to and from plus and powerbook...

    Powerbook 530c networking system 7.6.1

G'day kingchops. I sold you that 520c, so I feel obliged to try and help here :) I can't rightly remember if I trashed the files, so if you open "extensions manager" in the control panels, you might be able to re-enable file sharing. Another (long) alternative is to find 19 mac formatted...

Mostly dead Duo 230 - makes hissing noises!

Nice one for the resuscitation! Those grayscale passive matrix screens always are a bit ghostlike.. If you can get a hold of one, an HDI-30 SCSI cable, System 7 and SCSI disk mode will be a quicker method of file transfer than AppleTalk. + you can check the Duo 230 HDD for errors from the...

    CF for which book?

I completely botched it. Dismantled everything down to the drive cage. Go to connect the CF adapter and it does not fit. I read somewhere on these forums that it is necessary to snip one of the pins, which I did. Only it was the wrong pin! :I I :o) was in upside down land. Its nay too...

    CF for which book?

I was hopeful that I might gain some disk speed improvement, but with the current CF card I have that looks like it may not be so. Still, an 8GB drive beats 2GB! I have a PCMCIA--> CF adapter and will install the system (think I will go with 8.6) and boot from that before I disassemble the...

iBook FW 366Mhz: DVD playback capable?

I just put a DVD drive into my Indigo Clamshell, I have not overclocked it, but playing DVD's does not work (well) in OS X. I used a version of VLC appropriate to OS 10.3.9. This might be because the encoding is done in software and 366mhz just ain't enough hertz. However, I can report that...
