    Conquest: Powermac 9600

Great pics! With all that RAM installed what a powerful beast it is! As long as you have the drivers for the sonnet G3 card installed, 7.6.1 will run like Usain Bolt! With so many PCI slots, perhaps an ACARD AEC-6890M for lots and lots of storage?

    TV/Video System Capabilities/Limitations

The problem with the video hardware on the the 6xx series is that anything higher than 15fps and the video gets jittery. Also, if any of your content is longer than 5 minutes you will need a larger hard drive. Achievable, given its IDE. Its worth doing if you want your memories to last. I've...

    Finally, an Intel

Welcome to the 21st century! My GF has a MBP of the same vintage. The matte screen is easier on the eyes + the keyboard is great to type on (better than my 2009 unibody MBP I think) $AU200 is a bargain and with the upgrades you plan, it should be a real hum-dinger. Congrats! :)

    Mini vMac for Android

No trouble at all. Its a very handy utility to have installed. I use it on macs where the drive/s size is not an issue. Saves me from having to reach for, load and unload optical media :) Happy to see its found some use in minivmac also! Now if I could just mount a mac formatted image in...

    Visioneer PaperPort Vx

Making unfair assertations about my level of intelligence I find offensive. I was never disputing that The Visioneer Paperport Vx scanner works via a serial connection Only, to me it sounded that kissmyash933 wanted the extra speed that SCSI affords. Your response here has been been overtly...

    Visioneer PaperPort Vx

While the Visioneer PaperPort Vx scanner can and does work with a serial connection, its a tad slow. If you were to acquire a Visioneer PaperPort Vx SCSI Adapter For Macintosh: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/200399957456?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 It will work with a...

    Mini vMac for Android

For $2, its the cheapest mac with the least hassle I have ever obtained! I've got a 7 inch galaxy tab p1000 and a doo hickey that hooks up to my 42" tv. Quite cool seeing a Mac II in this way! As above, I just wish there was a way to share a (bluetooth?) keyboard and mouse and also getting...

The fish that got away . . .

I recently came across a keyboard with no picture on ebay Australia that said "For Macintosh SE, Classic, Classic II etc" BIN for $30. I have a number of ADB keyboards. Later came back to it and the picture was for a Mac plus keyboard (sold..) ::) which don't come often on ebay Australia...

Quantum "Viking II" 9.1GB SCSI HDD into LC III?

I have an Apple branded Quantum "Viking II" 9.1GB SCSI HDD. I've connected the drive externally and partitioned it using Lido. But I really would like to put it into my LC III. Is there an adapter or am I going to have to rig up an external enclosure? Salute.

PowerBook 550c sale on OZ ebay

Far out, have I broken a 68kmla rule here? I just thought that other members might be interested in such a rare Powerbook. I did not realise the seller is shipping internationally. Perhaps there should be a rule that forbids ebay postings as mentioned in another thread...

    StyleWriter 2200-LocalTalk cable?

Thanks for the enlightenment on the intricacies of an appletalk (serial) cable. I had no idea just how many serial cables there are! I ended up using the gray cable (8-pins) and it works fine. I'm taking pics with my quicktake 100 and then printing out. The resolution is not great...

    StyleWriter 2200-LocalTalk cable?

I've got a StyleWriter 2200 that I want to hook up to my Powerbook 3400c. Reading through the StyleWriter 2200 manual it states not to use a "regular" LocalTalk cable. A regular one is all I have. It fits perfectly into the printer. Should I risk using it? Ta for any advice.

    B&W G4-400mhz or 1Ghz?

In terms of overall performance those powerlogix G3 upgrades look way preferable! Only issue is I need altivec for mp4 conversion. Its a strange notion that a CPU upgrade will slow a computer down and no tweaks! Anywayz, if Sonnet can give 30% more on where its at, then its the next project...

    B&W G4-400mhz or 1Ghz?

I have a B&W upgraded G4 which runs at 400Mhz/768MB RAM and an 8GB SSD running 9.2.2 I mainly use it for analog/digital conversion of video using a iXmicro capture card and an external firewire drive. I bought a 1Ghz Sonnet upgrade (brand new/old stock) Perhaps impulsively, as I read...

    384MB ... of 30 pin RAM!

I saw that auction and contemplated putting a bid on, but I don't have any macs that will fit it. A few months back I watched 4x16mb 30 pin simms on ebay Australia go for over $50. To get it from the US you would pay that much+shipping and a long wait. I reckon you were wise to BIN. After...
