Mystery Focus Enhancements Card: Can anyone identify?

There were external boxes that allowed you to display a Mac's DB-15 video output on a composite television.  Could this be the PCB from one of those boxes? A DB-15 passthrough and a composite out for hooking up to a large television?

CRT swap between iMac G3 and G3 AIO

Update: I completed the tube swap and it worked well!  The tube from a G3 All-In-One ("Molar Mac") fits the trayloader iMac and seems to work well. The tube from the AIO is missing a small, three-pin connector that the iMac tube has.  It seems to work fine without this connector — no idea if...

CRT swap between iMac G3 and G3 AIO

Hey everyone, I've got a trayloader Rev. C iMac, and I just acquired a new-old-stock picture tube for the G3 AIO.  My plan is to put the AIO tube into the iMac.  Has anyone ever swapped picture tubes between the two?  They are both similar part numbers from LG, but don't seem to be exactly the...

    Help with Classic II

Nice job on that recap!  It looks nice and clean, and I really dig the way solid polymer caps look on these boards  8-) Do you have access to a working Classic or Classic II that you could try this motherboard in?  It’d be good to rule out the analog board. No idea about the RAM jumper.

    Icons for System 7

Does anyone know of (or have) any icon packs that would work well on a Compact Mac running system 7? I'd like to change the icons for my external drives and for the internal HDDs on my SE, SE/30, and Classic II, but I don't know where to look for black-and-white icons that work under 7. I...

Picked up an SE/30, installed ROMinator II and maxed out RAM

I just saw in your YT comments that you feel intimidated by surface mount.  Where are you located?  If you’re anywhere near the CA Bay Area/Sacramento, there are a lot of us out here who would be happy to help you with recapping.

Picked up an SE/30, installed ROMinator II and maxed out RAM

Sweet find!  The king of the compacts  8-) .  I got an SE/30 a few years ago and it has been a great computer, so much snappier to use than the other compacts.  Massive upgrade potential (which it seems like you have already taken advantage of).  Do you have any other upgrades planned for it...

Mac Classic II (Gen 2) - No CRT?

There is a lot that goes wrong with these analog boards, particularly two diodes, an IC, and some of the caps.  I’d look at those before jumping to flyback.

    Has anybody gotten a SCSI2SD v5.5 yet?

I'm not sure if it has been brought up on the forum yet, but has anyone gotten a SCSI2SD v5.5 yet?  I just did last week, and it's a fantastic little device. I was using a v5 inside a 3D-printed external box with the DB25 adapter, and it worked well but was very clunky and kind of a pain to...

Craving the companionship of a cool Color Classic

Quick update: I have found another Color Classic and a few parts I needed to build my dream CC.  This second CC is high-hours and not perfect, but between it and the broken donor machine, I have enough parts to put together one nice system. Money is tight so progress will be slow, but now that...

Macintosh TV not powering on (MLB issue)

I read about one case with the Macintosh TV where cap goo had shorted a reset switch on the board, and that was keeping the board from booting.  Not sure if yours has the switch or not, but that could be an easy thing to check.

    SE/30 Logic Board Resurrection

LaPorta, If you're still looking for a hot air station to remove old caps with — a few years ago I bought a generic Chinese one off eBay for $40 including shipping.  If you search "828D" you should get a few listings.  Not sure how much they're going for now, but mine has held up well over the...

Craving the companionship of a cool Color Classic

Well guys, after a little back and forth with the seller, I got a refund for the CC and he told me he is glad I can at least use it for spare parts.  Really nice guy, I feel a little  bad.  But I digress, I have some CC parts in the mail and should have a complete functioning system soon. Start...

Craving the companionship of a cool Color Classic

You read my mind Jinnai; once I slept on it I realized it might be more fair if I asked for a partial refund.  There are quite a few usable parts here; notably a working original CC logic board and an analog board that looks to be in great condition.  But then I checked my email and saw that the...

Craving the companionship of a cool Color Classic

There is also a break by the floppy drive and in the top left corner of the display, and the rear bucket has chipped corners all around.  The case has a strong mildew smell to it and I've also found the CRT was damaged once I plugged the machine in for bootup: That dark spot is much more...

Craving the companionship of a cool Color Classic

Disaster strikes! Honestly one of the worst packing jobs I've ever had on a vintage machine.  I had a bad feeling about it as soon as I saw how small and tattered the box was.

Craving the companionship of a cool Color Classic

"Let me take ya'll back man, as I do so well..." Back in 2013, I was bitten by an overwhelming wave of nostalgia for 90s Macintosh.  Not any model in particular, just 90s Macintosh as an entity.  Beige plastic; the Chicago typeface; whirring hard drives and errant "eep!" sounds accompanied by...
