    Parts machine, maybe not

Picked up a 2009 2.66 quad core Mac Pro for parts for $50. No RAM, HD or video card. Installed those and it booted right up. Have to run it a bit to make sure it’s stable and maybe do a firmware update to 5,1

    USB to ADB?

There's the Geethree PS/2 to adb adapters. I've added a USB adapter to that and used a USB optical mouse. Not all optical mice do work with it

    G4 vs G5 iMac performance

Depending on which G5, I'd say 1.5 to 2x. The G5 iMacs do have a reputation for bad caps in the power supply For even more speed you might also consider a 2006 or 7 intel iMac. Those will run 10.4. And if you want hugely hugely more speed, there's the 2007 8 core Mac Pro but any 2007 or...

PCI Power Mac processor card cross-compatibility?

It should work but you'd be better off getting a G3 card instead

Floppy Emu on my IIe - making disk backup

It's very very rare to have a floppy controller with 20 pin connectors and adapters to 19 pin. In virtually all IIe with a 19 pin connector the cable is permanently attached to the card. Best choice is to either find another floppy controller or a physical disk of a copy program.

    Some Mac Pros

I got the SATA extension, had to modify it a little so it would fit. Tried it out with an external power supply and the drive showed up right away. It was late and I thought I’d think about the next step the following day. At 6am I wake up with a question. I’d tried a couple of different...

    Some Mac Pros

Picked up a bunch of  what were supposed to be 2.66 1,1 Mac Pros for what worked out to $50 each. In amongst them were 3 later machines. A couple of 2008 8 core 2.8 and a 2010 quad core 2.8 with 2 Radeon 5770s. All the machines are working fine except the 2010 which has an issue. None of the 4...

    cache

Looking for an opinion or maybe someone's tried this. If I transfer the cache chips from a 466 DA CPU card to a card from a tray loading iMac, will it show up as 1mb, 512k or not at all

Apple IIc and 800k 3.5" external floppy drive

Bypass the daisy-chain board and it'll work on a Mac. The issue was that GSOS would keep polling the drive so the drive access light would keep flashing.

    Any thoughts on this....it arrived!!!

Hard drives are pretty much airtight so there is room for hope. This week I tried out a 5 and a 10mb Profile hard drive. Both worked

    Any thoughts on this....it arrived!!!

It’s got II Plus ROMs. The dates I see on the chips seem to indicate 1982 as a likely production time. Which would means it predated ProDOS. It’d be interesting to get the hard drive going.  I’m wondering if it’ll be CP/M.

    SATA SSDs

I've used Samsung SSDs under OS9 without problems. I believe it was 120gb 840 evo with a Sonnet SATA card. Worked in a 8600 and a MDD. I'd tried a 120gb Intel and while it initially worked, I soon had directory problems. Moved the drive to a MacBook where it worked fine
