Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
On the Apple IIgs, the floppy drive must be plugged into the external port. Also, on the IIgs you daisy chain the drives. My floppy drive daisy chain works very reliably even at the end of the chain. With the circuitry on the motherboard of the IIgs, the cables themselves, as well as the wiring...
We are wanting to know about the soldered on RAM.
Either identify the chip type to us, or if you can take a high quality photo of the ICs, making the printing on top of them easy to read.
I'm pretty sure that if you want to get an accurate value, you have to remove the entire capacitor.
IF you want to approximate if it works, it's probably okay to leave it in-circuit.
It's all okay. It's easy to confuse things sometimes. When you look at the latency of modern memory, lower is better, yet at the same time higher frequency is better too. It's just one of those things to look out for.
Does anybody have more info on Wombat (650/800) boards, and their soldered-on...
John, I use NetBSD extensively on my Quadra, and I can wholeheartedly agree with you! 33MHz 68040 is not as fast as I would like on the compile times. I realize that's just the way it is, and I shouldn't really be complaining, but, accelerated builds would always be a nice thing [:P] ]'>.
Yeah, six layers is a good idea.
I guess I was just thinking about the cost, but, when you do the math (786/100) you get a very reasonable $7.86 per board. Six layer it is then!
And while I'm at it, I should look at some production costs too for you:
If we go through SEEED to make a production board, following the specs above:
50 @ $304.44, with 100 @ $493.44
PCBShopper, same specs as above, except now 100-quantity:
PCBShopper-4layer-100.pdf
If we have to go to a...
PCB cost for 14cm*12CM... Based on 4-layers, 1.6mm thickness, and... the usual specs.
NOT LEAD FREE. If we want RoHS compliance (only applicable for the final version, and even then I still want to use tin/lead solder) it will be more expensive. I should have mentioned that earlier, but, for...
I like the idea of having a plug in active adaptor, at least for the moment. Eventually, we will pop on some SMD type PAL/GAL/CPLD to the card somewhere for it.
KiCad convininently already has a PCI slot in the its default parts library, so adding one to ProtoCard1 won't be very difficult.
The...
Thanks for the post Cory, It's nice to know someone else other than me and G have interest in this.
The Mac VGA adaptor that is pictured above is just one of the ones I have laying around. That didn't come with the projector. Now, I don't have the adaptor that did come with the projector, but...
I saw an LC II at my local thrift shop about a month or two ago. $5, but no floppy drive. If it had a floppy drive, I would have gotten it.
When I went today, I was able to obtain lots of S-Video ADB cables for hacking. Gotta test the ADB KVM thingy. (Check peripherals sub forum for more...
Thank you Bolle for the information! This is very useful. Perhaps a Centris 650 would be a better thing to look at, as that was before the speed bump to 33MHz for the 650 series.
Text is in a gerber file, which is essentially a vector graphics format. The typeface is provided by KiCad. The PCB house takes that information, to print it on the PCB.
Part of me wonders if OpenJDK could be made to work with NetBSD/mac68k
I'd call NetBSD modern. The version (7.1) I'm using on this machine was released in March 2017. NetBSD is still seeing active development.
Well I was way off, but that's okay!
I think the different sleds have to do with Miniscribe vs other HDD brands. Just for reference, both my SE and my SE/30 have the topmost HDD sled.
