help! i have been upgrading the 7600 one upgrade is a usb card . it does not seem to work.
i started with a belkin card that was usb 2 so i removed it and put it in the g4 dual which works perfectly.
i also have a dh-pc4 card.
it does not work either i have tried a mac pro mouse. and...
what about using a sonnet tempo 133 ide card. that would run close to the 160 mbps correct. it would be much faster than the scsi 2 or am i wrong. i have several ide 133 drives and a tempo 133.
also i have been looking for the atto card and they are like $200+ what gives?
whilst digging through my stuff i found and adaptec pci to scsi card
it has a 68pin external and a 50 pin internal connectors
it is an aha-2930cu
rom version 4.2
and i have a 68 pin scsi running now in the 7600 with that 68 to 50 pin adaptor.
it looks like i need a cable to go from the hd...
you are correct i have a 9200 pci i drifted off when i wrote that sorry
[:I] ]'>
so the atto card is used for an external hd or does it have a connection for internal hd.
I am going to turn it into a cad station
i am adding the zip drive to the 7600
I know the radeon 7000 will work in this machine ? will the 7500 also work?
or a rage 128 their cheap
I also have a radeon 9800 pci in my b&w would it work?
the next task is os9 helper to get to 9.2.2...
it looks like the clamshell is coming off life support
my lime clamy has 192 meg of ram and 10.3.3 installed
no dead pixels
it cost me for a mobo
i think is needs more ram and an air port card would be nice.
oh yes a new battery
i reset the passwords thanks for the help
if only it cost $50
no the plotter driver is the key minicad comes with no drivers.
so it is a hardware compatibility issue. like what platters were being used on mac up until about 98
i want the best video card for a quicksilver g4 dual 1 g machine.
well less than 150 $ us.
i have a 7500 apg currently per alk [8D] which works great
i would like to dual boot to os 9 also
well i tried the dc input module no luck it appears to be the mobo this sucks.
i have no way to test components. I think the power stuff got fried.
i need a ibook with a bad case no hd etc. I haven't given up yet
nurse get me the paddles looks like a heart transplant
lattest update:
i took it down and the input board was fried. i also inspected the mobo
the are small areas of white corrosion like where the input board plug solders to the mobo. and around some power components large caps mainly.
would you try to clean the mobo of the corrosion with some...
i got a new power adptr from owc
it must be the input power module or mobo dang both hard to replace.
i have a input module on the way i just hope it is not the mobo
well i have the power adaptor and tried to start the ibook with and without the battery nothing happens.
the battery is bad so i cant try with battery only
i thought that may br int incomming power modual may be bad?
any ibook experts?
I looked in side it has a ram upgrade but no airport card.
the keyboard is 100%
I should be able to power it up in the morning.
what is the best way to get around the password issues
i do not want to format the hd? until i look it over
reinstall a clean os? 9 or 10?
i guess i could boot...
i checked out my local pc store they hate macs.
it looks good but no ac adaptor
and it has bad written on the battery
will the machine start with an ac adaptor and no battery?
can a bad battery harm the machine.
I would pull the simm chip and put the new battery in.
once you get it going stock start upgrading!!
I thought you had install them in pairs. ie 16 bit simms each so you need 2 for 32 bit addressing.
i know this is true on my 7100
in old mac 2 it was 4 at a time ie 8 bit simms x 4 = 32 bit
how much faster was the hpv vs the a/v card
also the 400 mhz g3 upgrade for this machine is freaking great.
running 7.6.1 it is Fast
without a doubt the 7600 / 400 is my favorite mac.
Great list though.
i pulled the mobo and inspected it. non of the caps look like they are leaking.
their is 0ne large blue electrolytic cap but it looks fine. the mobo has left speaker and right speaker printed on the board so i know there to look. there is one square film type cap and 4 small can type caps...
