Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
Right here it's trying to read the EEROM ID:
FFBC 0001
Likely that will need to be changed or bypassed for an EEPROM other than the
W49V002FA
If you look at the data sheet under "Product Identification" it clearly states FFBC 0001 is how to return the Product ID.
Didn't some company that made FCode ROMs for SATA card put a check for a specific EEPROM ID and the code would goto abort if it found the wrong ID?
Not sure that's what's going on here, we'll have to see if the 'ndrv' is loaded in the device tree, but I doubt it is, as it will show the drives...
What you are looking for is the driver,AAPL,MacOS,PowerPC property, it's a big long hex string.
If it's not there something went wrong with loading the 'ndrv' in the device-tree. An 'ndrv' is a native device driver for the classic Mac OS( not Classic mode in OS X ). The property is not used by...
I'm thinking the 'ndrv' didn't load, can you jump into Open Firmware and display the .properties for the card?
Or use the Display Name Registry tool from Apple's PCI DDK to look at the properties of the card in the Mac OS?
PCI_DDK_3.0.sit.hqx
I'm not totally familiar with the 5400's PCI Bus...
Well @LightBulbFun put a 100MHz rated XPC106 in his Beige, tho we are still waiting for him to push it.
Some of us have X1950XT's and 7800GT's with PCI to PCI-E bridges that will run at 66MHz, we'll see what we see when we see it.
Thanks, Nate Dog out did himself there, the 550MHz G4 did really well, offering more bang for buck.

I don't know where the soft straps start and end in the PC VBIOS?
I didn't make the edits to the Mac rom, I found it at MR in one of the many threads on flashing these cards to PPC.
It's just that altivec speeds up the memory quite a bit. Ask @herd what the memory speeds are like with a 400MHz G4 vs a 1.+GHz G3.
A 600MHz 7410 would smash any G3 alive if we are talking memory throughput.
The Yike and B&W have 64bit 33MHz PCI and 66Mhz 32bit PCI. feeding 266MB/s PCI needs...
Yes, I remember reading to too, the 600MHz were OCed 500's.
it's kind of dishonest if you don't tell people before they buy because they maybe thinking a 600MHz part is going to have some headroom.
A Quick Look at the data sheet shows 533Mhz was the max production clock, so likely the 600's...
With GPU set to 625MHz and VRAM set to 800MHz the corruption went away, but the 3D performance did not go up one bit.
We are using ROM Rev. 109 from the "Read Me"
Known Issues
The X1900 GT Mac Edition rev 109 ROM is supported by Graphiccelerator, but frequency changes are ineffective. That may...
I toyed around with the ROM a little, and I wasn't paying attention well enough and left out a word of 0's.
Bricked the card as I set the PCI header wrong and atiflash could no longer recognize the card.
Had to pull the old 'w1zzards trick' and short pins 1 and 8 while booting the PC. Got it...
You mean CD burning doesn't work?
As far as I know the CD/DVD drive works just fine
The mouse hang was the drivers I hacked for the R9200, you should update the Mac OS ROM file to the one that uses the standard ATI drivers without my hacked drivers. Elliot patched the device ID in that ROM to...
