    SCSI2SD Project - anyone interested ?

I'd be very, very interested. :) And I see you're in Brizzy, too. Good to see an Aussie doing some 68k development. :)

WeirdStuff Conquest: Jaz 2GB, Full Height ZFP case

Ahh, WeirdStuff. I'm looking at taking a trip to the US Real Soon Now™, and intend to swing by the Valley, and while I'm at it, stop by WeirdStuff to do some shopping. Guess I should start thinking about booking the shipping container now...

Does your Special menu have a funny name? Thats one way to identify a beta.

    Clipper HD

Mine's a generic one and it needs a power adapter (5VDC) to run it.

    Clipper HD

I have one I bought on eBay a couple of years ago. Pretty neat, apart from the fact that I don't have any spare 2.5" SCSI drives.

    Silent Macs

Negative - all LCs had fans. From the original LC through to the 475. Same with all AIO LCs. Theoretically, you probably could get away with removing the fan from an LC with no HDD, but I wouldn't recommend it. As it is the fans they used are very, very quiet.

    Silent Macs

PCI PowerBooks have a fan, but it only comes on very, very rarely. I've never heard the fan in my Wallstreet spin up, and I've only heard my TiBook's spin up a couple of times.

Powerbook 540c LCD, Can It Run In Grayscale Mode?

There's also other one other reason - power efficiency. With a greyscale active matrix display, sitting outside, you can turn the backlight all the way off and still see what you're doing. Not quite the case with a colour display, or a passive matrix.

    iMac G3 Airport

The AirPort card is incompatible with some newer routers and access points, for some reason. I have a Cisco Small Business router that I can't connect to from my TiBook 500, even in Leopard, yet all my other WiFi equipped machines work fine with it.

    Quadra 605 upgrades?

I wouldn't bother with a PowerPC upgrade. They're exceedingly rare, and take up the space where a PDS card would go, (don't know about you, but I can't live without my Ethernet), and to be honest I'd rather have a fast 68k than a slow PowerPC. (while I believe there were faster 3rd party...

Like brand new condition (Beige) Power Macintosh G3!

Ahh, the Beige G3. Mine's somewhat decked out (max RAM, Sonnet Tempo SATA with 500GB drive, SuperDrive), but I've given up trying to get it to run OS X. I've tried 10.2, 10.3, 10.4....it just doesn't want to know about it. Nice machine, but really, they're much, much happier on OS 9.

    7100 vs 8100 mobo - differences?

Power connector - the 7100 uses the IIcx/IIci/IIvx/Q700/Q650 power connector. 8100 uses the Quadra 900/PCI PowerMac power connector.

Not a mac... but will be?

Technically they're not "trialware" - they're provided so that current licensed users of Windows 7 or 8 can redownload the image, in the event that they lose it. Also - Windows 8 doesn't give you a 30 day grace period - you have to enter a product key right then and there for setup to continue

You can even go as far back as 7.1 so long as Open Transport is installed :)

Apple IIe Card On 520-Upgraded Color Classic

The LC520 logic board is based on the LCIII's design, whereas the Colour Classic is based on the LCII. So yes, its quite a big upgrade. And yes, the IIe card should work fine.

    System 7.5.3 installer easter egg?

No, I've only ever seen it in 7.5.3.

    Question About Restore Discs

The original restore media that came with my iMac 333 (8.6) works on anything that will run 8.6 - I actually use the iMac Install CD as my OS 8.6/AppleWorks 5 install disk. I think it was only around OS 9 that they started machine-locking.

Powerbook 540c LCD, Can It Run In Grayscale Mode?

All PowerBook 5xx series logic boards are the same, as such, if you're going from a 540 display to a 540c display, you'll get a pleasant surprise - COLOUR! As with any colour Mac, you can also switch it to greyscale if you want.

    Mint condition LC475 & battered PB1400cs

I'm pretty sure the TDKs were used worldwide, as I seem to recall them being an autoranging PSU. Most of the ones I've seen here in Australia (where we use 240V) have been TDKs, out of the ones I have, they're all TDK apart from one Delta Group or whoever it was. (can't check because its...
