    formatting a USB flash drive

I don't think that is the problem in this case. If it was an IDE or SCSI drive, it would be, but this is an USB flash drive. I think the real reason is OP formatted it using the GPT partition scheme. Mac OS 9 only recognises APM and MBR schemes - it is too old to recognise GPT. Go to the...

    formatting a USB flash drive

Myth, sorry. What you are talking about is for Carbon applications. OS X and OS 9 uses the same HFS+ filesystem period, no special drivers needed.

Restoring an LC 575 and LC 580

And the good news about making floppies is that all you need to upgrade an existing System 7.5 install to 7.5.3 is System 7.5 Update 2.0, which is available as floppy images on Apple's web site. You will need to have StuffIt Expander to extract them (download from StuffIt's website, you can...

Restoring an LC 575 and LC 580

That is a classic problem. What other programs do the hard drive have? Many Internet-related programs has a built-in MacBinary decoder.

    Mac+ OS floppy request

Note that I said "physical format". As you have encountered, different platforms used different logical formats for the same 3.5 inch floppy, not only IBM PC and Apple Mac but also Commodore Amiga and more. Generally these was based on the logical format the vendor previously used for older...

    Mac+ OS floppy request

Do you know who designed the physical format for the 3.5 inch floppy used today, BTW? It is the Microfloppy Industry Committee.

    LC 575 Trinitron-CRT swap on LC 580......Possible?

Except that the case had to significantly changed to support the curved CRT. I think it is better to Takky the 575.

LC630 - what makes it a bit crap?

To be more precise, they embedded it into the F108 IC which was also used in the PDS Power Macs too. And if you think that is bad enough, even the 68040 and NuBus PowerPC PowerBooks uses the 85C80 combo chip with it's 53C80 SCSI controller which does not support SCSI Manager 4.3! This also means...

LC630 - what makes it a bit crap?

The first Mac to switch to ATAPI optical drives was those based on the Tanzania or LPX-40 motherboard, used by Mac cloners and Apple in the 4400.

    LC520 accelerator

Yea, it is unfortunate that they released the Color Classic at the same time as the LC III, but they based it upon the much slower LC II! What is even worse, the Color Classic II that finally was based upon the LC III+ was not released in the US! Luckily it is easy to swap a LC III-based 520 or...
