Have not had time to tinker still. but I was upstairs putting the humidifiers away so I thought I'd plug it in and see what it does. Powered up immediately. :-/
I got my 24x36" sets directly from Apple. Never hung them, I have em stored away. market for them doesn't seem great right now so I'm waiting until the value goes back up before I try selling them again.
Yeah I'm suspecting caps now too, time needed to wait for start up is increasing. I'm doubting its cord contacts, first thing I tried was wiggling the cord while trying to start up.
Maybe I'll have time some night to open it up more and get a closer look, see if I spy some bulging caps...
I know the G5 iMacs are very well known for PS issues. never heard any with the G4 my self. It turned on when I went back to it later. and turned on after an hour unplugged. left it unplugged and will try again tonight.
I was thinking that. Buyer never showed up, so I bought a new battery this morning. no go, Left it unplugged for 24hrs, put in the new battery and it didn't turn on. I have it plugged in and will see if it decides to turn on again.
left it plugged in and went to try resetting the PMU, didn't have to it booted. weird... think I'll still try resetting the PMU, after iLife finishes installing.
Machine has never had any problems, it was in daily use until a few weeks ago. I installed fresh copy of 10.5 Thursday, did all updates, used it on Friday all was fine. Went to install iLife on it today (sunday) and nothing. no life at all.
Any known issues with these you guys can think...
I used an LG 15" LCD on a IIci also Powerbook 165, 180, Sun SparcStation 5, BeBox, DEC Multia...
For the IIci just used an adaptor I had sitting about... think Uniserver has that now(sent him a bunch of misc bits), he also has that IIci as well. heh.
It takes some time to get the mapping right with the shareware software, but it works! Testing it at work since it turns out I don't have a VGA cable like I thought, cable is a DVI and sneaky apple blocked off the VGA pins to prevent the use of a cheap DVI to VGA adaptor :p
and Extra...
I can't wait to get to play with mine ;D Already found OSX drivers, I have a USB to serial adaptor and a mini DVI to VGA adaptor. Just need to see if I still have a VGA to MAC adaptor, I may have just given my last ones to Uniserver oops! And I need a mini display port to DVI adaptor so...
I have not tried a known good 800k, I did try a dud, it failed as expected. Than a 1.44meg unknown I tried to format as 800k, it made it 3/4 of the way before it failed. Some point I'll try some other 800k floppies. I was able to copy data to an 800k disk...
Checkable through the floppy slot? When uni had the board for recapping he got bus errors trying to write to floppies, using a 1.44meg drive, mine is reading and writing 800k fine.
Ok, so it reads and writes 800k floppies just fine.. Does not recognize any 1.44 meg floppy... This was an upgraded SE, wondering if it's an oddball 800k only SE/30?
I'm sure its gummed up really good. acted like it was, and I got a nice hunk of fluff on the disk when I ejected it. |)
It was quite dusty inside. it spent years inside a dusty closet running as a mail server I bet that floppy drive hadn't been used since the early 90's it was just...
