Well, it's not Uniserver, so that's a point in their favor already. Their feedback is fine, the negatives look like just idiot buyers that didn't understand the seller's terms.
That model needs 9.2.2 with ROM revision 9.0.1, 9.2.1 won't work on it.
EDIT: Your post is a little vague; are you running 9.2.1 already or trying to install it?
Paste condition definitely does matter. As I've been preparing them for retirement I've been redoing the paste on some E5520s with i5-2520M chips - CPU temp drops an average of 12C with new paste.
And as has been said, don't use too much. You can insulate the chip that way and do more harm...

I'd imagine the forum staff have more or less the same feelings today as they did then.
This was discussed years ago when the change was implemented. It's not happening. Security for everyone is more important than browsing support for ancient hardware.
