Here's the latest on this system:
The system now has its ADB Adjustable Keyboard. I still need to acquire an ADB mouse to complement the keyboard, but the Microsoft Natural, running through the USB hub on the 21" Studio Display will do for now.
I'm currently in the process of purchasing this...
I recently purchased this beige G3.
It was sold to me as being fully functional, but became my first retrobright project, as it was way too yellowed to be looked at and not be annoyed.
Here are some pics of the machine when I disassembled it completely to give it a thorough cleaning...
Keys cleaned! (Luckily these won’t need retrobright treatment!)
I chose to purchase the Hydrogen peroxide in a 50% concentration from a company which sells laboratory supplies (allowing me to dilute it as required), as I knew that I'd need allot of it for this job! (It works out allot cheaper...
I purchased this Adjustable Keyboard to pair with my G3 Beige, which I recently restored: (And as you can see, it's a bit yellowed!)
Here's the disassembly process:
The most remarkable thing here is that the “indirect method” that I’ve been using on the power supply brick has worked well! (I think one or two more treatments will do it!)
Hopefully this is the last stretch for the Power Supply Brick!
I’m attempting the “vapour technique “ on the power supply. (I’ve wrapped up the chord and have placed it in a sealed container with another container inside containing 50% Hydrogen Peroxide.)
This is purely an experiment! (to see if O(-2) with sunlight will do the trick?) (edited)
Here’s...
I've just purchased this complete Apple IIc: (It's a complete working system!)
Here's the complete system: (It's in very good condition, but will need a thorough cleaning and a retrobright)
It came with all of its manuals and this selection of software:
I have enough Hydrogen...
Yesterday I replied to this post in error, thinking that I was replying to a post by @Byrd on the thread regarding dual CPU’s in a Beige G3 and was unable to delete the post and the least I could leave was a full stop! I reported the post and asked for it to be removed, but clearly that hasn’t...
The one that I have looks different to that one, because it's specifically for the G3 Beige Mini Tower, as it's a tight fit:
The one in the picture is longer and wouldn't fit into a G3 Beige Mini Tower.
I wonder if it wouldn't be possible to slot a 500MHz SONNET ZIF G4 CPU into the secondary slot and down clock it to 450MHz to match the CPU that's already installed?
Even more interestingly, I have a spare 450MHz G3 ZIF CPU lying around, maybe it's possible to slot it into the secondary slot...
My XLR-8 MACh Velocity MPe CPU card arrived today! 🙂
After quite a bit of struggling I've got it up and running! (ended up repartitioning my OS9 disk when I didn't have to.)
This little toy has cost me a hell of allot of money so far ,and it still needs its second CPU! (This is pretty much the...
The main reason for this purchase is to experiment.
I’m a hardware collector and really like quirky hardware such as this! Each one of my systems needs to have something interesting about it, and in the case of the Beige system, this will be it.
As far as the graphics are concerned, all I'm...
I've opted to purchase this upgrade for my G3 B&W! (It will be an interesting thing to play around with!)
I only run OS9.2 on this machine, so I'll try to get two G4 CPU's up and running.
