Found it!!
I compiled it within the netatalk2.2.6 source, so just copied cheesestraws timelord.c over the original.
If I do a diff -u between the timelord.c cheesestraws made and the changes for localtime I see this:
macipgw@macippi: diff -u timelord/timelord.c localtime/timelord.c

I'm running the MacIPRpi now of my latest image 5.02. So no traces of the settings to get it running in localtime. Same as slipperygrey found out.
But......I have the development image! I will have a look on that one to see what I have changed on cheesestraws code to get the localtime...
Wowwww what a great write up about printing! I never worked with it before so I have to read your post carefully. I’m not sure if printing is possible to make ‘generic’ enough to include in the MacIPRpi, but with your ‘how to’ it must be doable for everybody. I will be back on this! Thank you...
Definitely love to buy one or two (three?)!
And yes, as cheesestraws mentioned, the MacIPpi can be a perfect file sharing platform. In between modern and old file sharing world.
SOLVED! Ok. It is the system change, not the atalkd.conf.
Now running on a Macintosh SE System 7.5.3.
The disk is not locked anymore and I can upload to it! Happy with the result!
Not sure why I get this problem in the combination Debian Sarge (Debian 3.1) and System 6.0.8.
In Debian Woody...
atalkd.conf? Why can a atalkd.conf be of any importance? Why could it be locking my disk. I was in disbelieve .... ( yes I admit it...)
So .... I tried. My former setup was with a LocalTalk PC card. The zone is strange but an advice of the kernel module LTPC...
I'm working with an old Netatalk version. Netatalk 2.0.2
Normal install. Everything looks fine I mount my Home Directory as always, try to write to it but get the message "The disk is locked"
I'm not getting it....how to "unlock" this disk?
And while I'm at it.... TimeLord is now working on the MacIPRpi, thanks to our fellow member cheesestraws. The Big Forum Crash took away the conversation about this subject.
Read all about it...
I like to give some attention to a very interesting development in Hacks & Development. The making of a totally new LocalTalk bridge. Read all about it.

The 2021 Big Crash of the forum destroyed our conversation about this update. I would like to thanks cheesestraws again for reviving the AppleTalk Time Server!!
It is now included in the current MacIPRpi image. Read all about it on:

For now AppleTalk is saved in Linux kernel. I have it working with a modern Linux on my MacIPRpi. Bug is fixed thanks to a fellow 68kmla member.
But LocalTalk PC Cards stopped to work after Debian 3.0 (Woody). For now I’m testing from Debian 2.2 to Debian 6. As said… will make a separate post...
You could give it a try. Download my MacIPRpi image and go ahead. Keep us posted if you get it working. I always advice not to use WIFI because Netatalk doesn’t like it. But if there is a way…..
I hope you will do option 2 also….
At this moment there is really nothing like what you are developing. This could be the FloppyEmu of LocalTalk networking. So …. Please give it a try. Even if it is just a prototype what can be finished by others.
As said before…I’m very happy with this development.
By coincidence In the recent weeks I have been working on my Pentium III with LocalTalk PC card model 630-5306. The famous lt0 in Linux.
in 2011 also worked with this system. Now 10 years later I thought it was an nice idea to give it a try...
LocalTalk is really my thing. Made some stuff to use TCP/IP over LocalTalk (see www.macip.net ).
So anything what would make LocalTalk possible over new hardware is really my biggest wish on vintage Mac Stuff.
If you need testers or anything...just let me know. I will be looking at this thread...
