You shouldn't need crossover cables... do you have a router? you should be able to connect both of them to the network wired and find each other over appletalk that way.

According to everymac.com, your machine should have built-in ethernet. Appletalk would probably be your best bet.

At any rate, unless I can find a 6500 board for a decent price (unlikely) I will just be sticking with the 6300.

If I remember correctly, I used a pci video card at the time. I believe it worked quite well.
