    portable power adaptor cap list

It's glued together and needs to be cracked open, can be done relatively cleanly (pics from my PB100s PSU):

How to download files on a Mac OS 9 computer?

I've been using this combo lately (when feeling lazy and not using a local FTP server or other solutions): download GetDown Classic onto your old Mac (you can get it from http://www.68k.party/software/ which is non-https so should open just fine). This utility will let you download files...

Centris 610 goes from LC040@20Mhz to full '040 and 25Mhz

Don't worry, it is a fresh one (and being checked regularly) :) 🔋🆕

    Dell Latitude CPi reactivation

I have one, got it second-hand and used for quite a while (Win98, which was already vintage at that point). If I recall, press Fn+F7 to scale up smaller resolutions to full screen (won't look too good, but in some cases nicer than having that postcard-size in the middle).

    BlueSCSI v.1 case

Not the exact same but these are still available: https://github.com/erichelgeson/BlueSCSI/tree/main/3D-Files/1.1/external-db25

Centris 610 goes from LC040@20Mhz to full '040 and 25Mhz

I do wish my machine had built-in ethernet; it wasn't easy to get that Nubus-adapter and then a Nubus-ethernet card that works with A/UX as well! I read about the serial ports not working with higher speeds but didn't know about the built-in ethernet getting borked too!

Centris 610 goes from LC040@20Mhz to full '040 and 25Mhz

Well yes, I didn't realize this until just today as I removed the stock oscillator... 😅 Had a quick peek at Mouser and couldn't find DIP 12.5Mhz part so at least I got the FULL 25Mhz for my effort! :geek:

Centris 610 goes from LC040@20Mhz to full '040 and 25Mhz

A small success story... I've had my Centris 610 for almost 20 years now. As time went on I wanted to experiment with A/UX which meant I upgraded the CPU from the stock LC040 to a full 040, the part I was able to source for that was a XC68040HRC25M, ie. a 25Mhz part. As the oscillator on the...

    3com Ethernet dongle

I looked at my pile of 3Com Etherlink cards, and found these two notes: 3C-PC-COMBO-CBL (RJ45 + Coax dongle) -> works on 589D/E. Foxconn 07-0408-000 0035 (RJ45 dongle, number on cable) -> works on 574BT. I think I've tested these around and it shouldn't hurt trying, but it probably will only...

    SCSI Enclosure Recap Warning

I might have one of those enclosures as well, might need to check on that! I had vertical SCSI hard disk enclosure that released some cap-fumes just a couple of months ago! Worked fine after a recap. I have another external SCSI CD-R drive by Yamaha. It's my go-to external cd-drive as it seems...

    Rayovac 4.5 battery replacement hack

You might want to replace the battery in your multimeter (battery symbol on-screen), it's not uncommon for a multimeter to measure high when it's running on low-battery (reference voltage too low) Been there myself... :)

Releasing AirTalk: Wireless plug-and-play LocalTalk dongle

Got mine today. It's a VERY polished product, and it worked straight out of the box! Thanks to all the people involved in the design! (y) Really neat the way you used the included iPhone-style pick for pressing the buttons :D

Adjusting sound volume with keyboard shortcuts on 68k Macs

Yes TetrisMax is great :D (Unfortunately slightly buggy, if paused at any point I find it sometimes causing the system to freeze) I just tested and yes it's just as you said; going to min. volume with Volumator the game still plays music and once quit the system volume slider is at minimum...

Adjusting sound volume with keyboard shortcuts on 68k Macs

No graphic artefacts anymore, works great! :) I was playing TetrisMax and tried adjusting volume while playing. The top-bar blinked everytime I changed volume (I thought it did that only at minimum level) and while the bar-graph showed zero volume, the game music still kept playing (very...

Adjusting sound volume with keyboard shortcuts on 68k Macs

I am actually running in 16 colors (faster on my IIcx). I just tested that in 256 color mode it works correctly, the white area/color mess happens in all other modes (b&w, 4, 16 colors).

Adjusting sound volume with keyboard shortcuts on 68k Macs

Just tested this on my IIcx (System 7.1) and it works! (y) However... the popup leaves a white box on the screen (against desktop) or messes up the colors (if something beneath) until the area is redrawn. Also while still holding down cmd+shift and then pressing -/= wasn't always repeating (or...

    Etherport II card

Likely so, although I would presume ENET for Ethernet (transceiver) and CNET for coaxial (or 'cheapernet') so it looks to be correct. Old ethernet cards can have troubles if connected onto gigabit ethernet ports on modern switches. An older switch inbetween (or manually setting the port to...

Identifying a RasterOps LC PDS card

Ah, thanks, almost that! I wondered why they would call it Colorvue if it can only display greyscale... My Portrait monitor is in storage, and I didin't expect my LCD to sync to the cards output but it did! With the VGA-adapter I got a green 1024x768 and even without installing any drivers it...

External ZuluSCSI and SCSI2D collides with chassi

That's neat! I did a similar tweak for the BlueSCSI's external version as it wouldn't fit into my IIcx's chassis. (This is now available at the github as a remix-version of the original case). I do like the look of how the Mac ports are recessed but sometimes it gets tricky even with just...

Identifying a RasterOps LC PDS card

Hi. Years ago when I got my Mac LC with an Apple Portrait Display, there was this PDS card inside the machine. I presumed it was required to use the Portrait display (I am not sure if I ever tried it with the LC's built-in graphics, and now I couldn't find a list of what Macs supported it by...
