Would the caps causing the bad convergence be on the video color (b) board you think? Or more likely the deflections board (d) that has the most caps.

Thanks. Yeah I just read similar instructions i the service manual. I will open it up tomorrow. I want to re-cap it as well. Unfortunately there’s no cap kits that I can find on console5 or elsewhere so I’ll have to build my own BOM and order them. I did find the Display Service Utility...

Took some more photos after changing it to the primary display. Seems like there’s 3 issues. 1) it’s showing the horizontal retrace lines 2) the r g and b convergence is off 3) there’s hardly any brightness control. The darkest black is light gray. *** after looking at the service manual ...

I got a chance to hook it back up again and you were right it wasn’t mirroring the screen. Once I dragged a window in there it showed up. So there IS an image, it’s just very washed out and it’s got those diagonal horizontal retrace lines in it. Caps??

Good point I see some color on the edges of the screen. I’ll try mirroring. And moving windows around.

Well I’m back at it with a repaired PowerBook 180 and video cable so I can test. The bad news. No picture. The good news it’s filling the screen with white so it’s doing something. And it’s showing up on the Mac. Video and photos attached:

I need to edit this so I can use 5 (or maybe 10) AA size NiCD batteries. Do you have the model on a Fusion360 format you would be willing to send me so I can just cut out the battery holder part? Maybe STEP or OBJ would work too?

No I have two machines two cables and two bad LCD's. no change if I swap cables. I put the new machines LCD on my restored and working machine and it was PERFECT... played with it for a while... everything good then I left it on and walked away for a while.. came back and had a missing...

Extremely bad luck apparently. I got the whole other machine, swapped displays out it was perfect.. (for an hour)...

Well I acquired another portable for parts and replaced the LCD and it was perfect. And then after being on for an hour or so a single line went bad. and then a few days later ANOTHER line.. I just left it on for a couple hours and now there are FOUR lines. What a bummer. Two LCD's gone bad on...

They are the rubber strips containing carbon that connects the LCD glass to the PCB.

Well I thought the vga to Mac DB-15 would have worked

The monitor did nothing. Same megenta ish color with horizontal trace lines.
