Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
I'd strongly recommend just buying the lot of 40, if you can spare the change.
You'll find a use for 'em again, or someone like you will make this request and you can say "I have a few lying around, I can send you some", or you can use them for cat decoration ;)
Conformal coating can typically be removed chemically, should replacement of components later be required.
There's a guide on it here for the interested.
Hey guys (and girls and small furry creatures from Alpha Centauri),
I recently dug out my copy of MachTen again, and have come to realise that one of the disks has been corrupted somehow that's beyond the capability of Finder, DiskCopy, and ddrescue to recover.
If anyone has a copy of...
It's fine. As they're brand new, and you're measuring on a voltmeter (So there's no load on the batteries), it's natural you'll see a few millivolts over :)
Hello! It's once again "Stupid questions from Horst" time.
Has NetBSD ever published any data about what NuBus cards they support? More specifically, does anyone know if NetBSD on a IIci will be able to use a graphics card like the Macintosh Display Card 24AC?
Attempting to get around the...
I don't suppose we know if the tiny!SCSI2SD that used to exist for PowerBooks is ever going to be remade?
I can't imagine that the SCSI drives in the 1x0 2x0 5x0 machines are going to last terribly much longer.
I do know that some of the later ones came with an Apple-manufactured bridge, but I...
These two suggest that it may be theoretically possible, using the Mac Plus ROMs with the 128k, to use the HD20 ... but I can't find any evidence that it's been tried yet.
Looking at the board picture you posted, I believe it is indeed possible, but you'd probably need to replace a few parts, including the smaller of the two E-I transformers.
Without the thing in front of me, I can't determine that completely though, so caveat lector, and undertake...
I find the Saft LS-14250 to be most reliable, personally, followed by the Tadirans.
Battery quality is much of a muchness, the only really important question is how much damage they'll do if they leak, and how fast it'll happen.
Man you should change the Apple HMMMU (I think that's the abbreviation? It's that black thing.) to a Motorola 68851, so you have a complete set of Motorola purple-and-gold in there :)
A little patience. This may have interesting applications, but perhaps it's just that nobody has time to look at it right now. I'll have a look at it in the new year, as soon as I find /where/ exactly my iBook is hiding.
With any luck, it should simply be an issue of looking into the resources of the INIT with SuperResEdit or similar, finding wherever the GestaltIDs for the II{x,cx,ci,si} live, and adding in the GestaltID for the SE/30 at that location.
I'd love to see this work.
Oh, this I'd be interested in.
Is there any reason it couldn't work on New World macs? :)
I wouldn't mind my iBook (Late 2001, 600) displaying the old-fashioned "welcome to macintosh" - In fact, IMO, the System 7.5 one was the best - both a status bar, for those with many CDEVs/INITs, and...
For what it's worth re SSL, I believe OpenSSL 1.0.0 will compile on Mac OS 9 at least, possibly for older Mac OS as well - I'd have to ask the guy who pulled that off for more specifics.
While OpenSSL isn't necessarily a light library, it is arguably the best-audited of the SSL implementations...
