Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
Just powered it up.. this thing is FAST! And it runs OpenWRT, so we know the software is good.
Advanced settings is a whole different config portal.. with a great warning message. It connected to my wifi in seconds and I'm posting this now via its connection.
@ants
Sorry I've gone MIA! Every weekend for the past few weeks I've had to travel. (And May isn't looking too great in terms of free weekends.)
I'll play around this upconing week with the VM300 and see what I can get. Also, that gl-inet router finally came in. I haven't had a chance to play...
Ok, so after a few more attempts I was able to get it to work.. Not sure what went wrong in the first place since it worked on another computer without changing any settings!
Interesting. It seems to work for me, but it looks like there's a javascript or something that loads the items up. Can you check and see if you have an adblocker or something that may be preventing javascript from running? The way it loads looks a bit like a popup blocker ay flag it..
@ants The icons look great!
@joethezombie Weird mine doesn't work then with my MacCon. I'll have to take it out and see if resetting it works. I do know that it was properly connected to my WiFi.. Hmm. The VM300 is quite flaky, I'm going to see if there's an OpenWRT route we can do as well...
@ants Awesome!
Still waiting on the new module.. And yeah, @K55 beat me to it, I think the ThreadManager extension can be installed on as old as 7.0??
I'll try to delve into OpenWRT as much as I can, as I've gotten quite proficient in *nix OS'es. I think I have an old WRT54G around here...
@ants Good catch! I need to fire up my 'Mystic' Color Classic and see if the Farallon NIC has better success comunicating with the Vonets. (It looks like that's what you've got so I'm sure it will.)
I actually went ahead and ordered the one on Newegg, so I'll follow up with my results!
Random...
Hmmm. This already has OpenWRT.. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIAFN26TX8230
Edit: And has some great documentation..
https://gl-inet.com/docs/mini/ar300m/
Ohhh, this looks promising. I had looked at openWRT as an option. Good idea to look through their website.
And yeah, my Netgear ProSafe switch will automatically connect to the MacCon without a hitch. It will even automatically go to 10Mbps
Also, just thinking... there are a few other options out there. If the Vonets proves to be too difficult maybe there is a better solution. The Menu extension can continue to be developed as we search for other adapters.. or even make the extension compatible with several different adapters. I'd...
Strange. Also sorry I've been MIA.. Been quite busy the past few weekends. It seems that it still won't work even set to full duplex... It even freezes my TCP/IP control panel for some reason. I'll keep messing with it.
One thing I noticed is that it will block out another machine if you've...
Ok, thanks for the tips!
Also, yes the link light seems to go off and then back on at a consistent rate... Even with manually setting it to 10M/Half Duplex makes it blink off and on... Looking like a link/connection re-try would behave.
I have the Asante MacCon for the SE/30. Which NIC do you...
Works for me!
I code in C, C++ and C# ASP.Net Core 2 MVC for my job right now (various pieces of hardware, 16-Bit PIC, ESP32, Intel of course, all for an IoT Platform) so I'm right there with ya! Mostly 'grew up' on asp.net and java. Most of my C experience though is on the PIC in MPLabX so my...
Honestly I got lucky and half of the IC pins popped off (solder between the pins and the pads gave way on one side) ... (which I honestly have taken advantage of with the 'twist technique' of removing the old SMD caps on logic boards before)
But anyways, Dave Jones' video on drag soldering may...
This is awesome! Some of that C code looks very foreign to me as I do plenty of C for the PIC but not a 68K running System 7!
..I was going to try to whip up a page you could open in Netscape 4 but I would definitely much rather prefer the system extension route...
Did you clean the board after re-capping? Maybe the cap goo (if the old ones leaked) spread farther on the board.
Look for a sheen near where you replaced the caps. Also, more dust will collect on top of the goo, which I have noticed is a telltale sign.
... Warm water with some dish soap and...
@james_w
I just replaced mine yesterday with this - https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/texas-instruments/SN74LS166AD/296-33968-5-ND/1590375
Works just fine.
Edit: I used the drag solder technique to remove the chip. Be careful not to apply too much prying force as the solder pads are...
No, I’ll have to play with it some more!
(Also I’m sure you figured... all ports were closed besides 80 so no telnet. :( )
Oh, but there is also a serial header on the board. Not sure what that will get us though! Probably just a little bash prompt...
