Stupid question I know, but the Pro you soldered had all the correct resistor switched to power it at 3.3V right? Since I also am going to attempt this I just wanted to be sure.
Argh, cannot fined the box where I buried those AV boards.
A question not related, but what does VT-A and VT-B mean on page 16 of the schematic? It specifies whether one or another R or C is stuffed, I have both a 5500 and a 6500 and both are VT-B according to what R is stuffed.
Last but not...
Remove and reseat all RAM. Remove and reseat all cards. Clean connectors if necessary. Check all caps for leakage, and also check the ones in the VRM. Check the PSU, measure all rails. I'd start here
So, I built specific tools to easily remove both ATI Video chip and the VRAM chips. I decided to go this route as it is a LOT less taxing than heating up the whole board, and using hot air on such large chips. Also, it takes literally seconds to remove the chip if applied correctly with enough...
Yes I recreated it with a layered PCB…. Cheapest and most effective way to do it.
Cheesestraws, Bolle, thank you so much for your offers! I really, really appreciate it. And yes, it would be much simpler to accept Bolle’s offer specifically for the simpler and less expensive shipping…. So I...
Well, we are working on a new LCD panel - driver pcb combination and on our test rig we managed to display both 512 and 560 resolutions, I think Daan partially rewrote the firmware for this. Unfortunately neither own a IIe board so we cannot test it.
While for preservation intent, trying to repair and make the 630/6200 supply work is a noble cause, this was a crazy flawed design to begin with and a good half of all the broken 630/6200/6300 out there are because the PSU is fried. IMHO, Instead of “redesigning”, the solution - also for the...
So what the title says. Its from a destroyed 5500/275. I also tried to put a twin turbo pci card from a 8600 in the slot, but same as above... I dont have a battery installed but a similar board boots and gives out video in the same enclosure so I can cross out anything that is outside the LB...
Uhhh that is a rage pro turbo, I only have the tech sheet of the pro - dunno if they are the same thing. Maybe? What’s for sure is that the pro was made to simplify drop in in existing PC motherboards that had the II installed…
try to salvage all the chips lined up near the connectors, those include proprietary chips that are useful to restore other 475 LB… Cuda, audio chip, NCR SCSI, etc. also, the inductors.
Danieel,
can you suggest a good Ali or Ebay seller that has a compatible G3 CPU for the 6500 board? Something I can do a direct swap, and also compatible with what is possible to obtain by the small VRM onboard….
