    Powerbook 2400c inverter

Thank you for the info - super helpful. I did verify the bulb on mine is bad. Has a really pronounced red tint to it, indicating it's on its way out. I take it the controller board has to be moved out of place to access the bulb? Trying to avoid messing with this panel as much as I can due to...

Sonnet Presto 040 for IIci - Bad Accelerator?

Hi guys - I appreciate the suggestions. Last night, I tried removing the 7 enabler from the System Folder, and had the same issues as before. Freezing during MacBench testing. I rebooted and it froze while working with windows in the Finder. Here are some better photos of my actual card...

IIsi: Minimum needed to troubleshoot a motherboard

If it were me, I'd isolate everything to the logic board (no RAM SIMMs) and power supply only. You don't need a battery. Start with those items and headphones plugged into the headphone jack. If your onboard RAM is good, you'll hear a chime. If not, it'll be death chimes (in which case you...

Sonnet Presto 040 for IIci - Bad Accelerator?

I don't, but I can take some when I get home tonight. The card looks like this (not my photo):

Sonnet Presto 040 for IIci - Bad Accelerator?

Good news and bad news with the 3.2 drivers. I placed the System 7 Enabler in the system folder and the Presto extension in the extensions folder. It initially gave me a bus error mentioning "General Controls". I deleted that control panel, and restarted - it actually booted! When running...

Sonnet Presto 040 for IIci - Bad Accelerator?

Thank you! I'll give that version a shot tonight. On a IIci, all I should have is the "Presto" extension in the extensions folder, correct? Fingers crossed this solves the bus errors.

Sonnet Presto 040 for IIci - Bad Accelerator?

I recently acquired a 40MHz Presto 040 designed for the IIci cache slot. Problem is, with the "Presto" extension loaded in System 7.5, I get a bus error during startup. I have a IIvx, and that machine behaves similarly. I did get it to boot into 7.5 at one point, but the system crashed when...

Checker-board screen with 68030 Performer Accel in Mac SE

Beautiful work! Very impressed you added a socket for the 68030. I took a chance and soldered mine directly to the PCB...

Checker-board screen with 68030 Performer Accel in Mac SE

Don't forget about the extension for the Performer! It can be downloaded here: https://macintoshgarden.org/apps/micromac-accelerator-software Things should show up correctly after that.

Checker-board screen with 68030 Performer Accel in Mac SE

D should work just fine. Encryption won't affect the operation of the chip. I don't encrypt because then it allows me to "read" the chip and make sure it did actually program correctly.

Checker-board screen with 68030 Performer Accel in Mac SE

You need GALs with active pullups. 16V8A does not have internal pullups. Rev B and onward should have them built in...

    iisi logic board fun.

Good work! I had to do the same on a IIsi board I restored a few months back. Death chimes which led me to inspect RAM area. Fortunately, replacement chips are still available. All were making good contact, and no corroded legs, so I had to guess which one was bad based on trial and error. Lucky...

Mac IIfx video card display lines

I have two of these exact cards with the same issue you're having. The spacing of the vertical lines is a little different, but I'm sure caused by the same thing. For some reason, these cards seem to corrode much quicker than the Mac logic boards! If I find a fix for mine, I'll report back on...

Macintosh SE/30 logicboard recreation (thread revival)

This is a reloaded board - sorry, should have specified. I did try a different video ROM and VRAM, but haven't swapped out any of the PALs responsible for video. That was going to be next on my list. Keep us posted with what you find out on yours!

Macintosh SE/30 logicboard recreation (thread revival)

I'm using 120ns VRAM (don't have any faster to test). What I've noticed is it's definitely worse when using the ATX extender. Almost non-existent when plugged directly into analog board. Additionally, after about a minute of runtime, the symptoms go away completely. Reboots don't affect it. This...

Macintosh SE/30 logicboard recreation (thread revival)

Whoa! My board has exactly the same problem. Question- are you using an ATX power cable extender to run the board out of the chassis? Are the symptoms the same after it has been running a bit? I have some theories but nothing solid yet.

Cool! Someone has overclocked it to 25MHz and added the heatsink as a precaution.

Mac SE/30: Looking for suggestions for next steps

I had this exact issue, but with a Mac Classic. Turned out to be a bad trace to pin 6 of the logic board molex plug (which corresponds to VIDOUT). Ran a small jumper wire to restore the connection and all was good.

Macintosh Color Display: How did I royally screw this up???

Wow, I missed this thread and am just reading it for the first time. I applaud your tenacity! The M1212 is one of my all-time favorite monitors, so I would feel the same about not giving up. Really interesitng obsrevation about the G and B drives still being alive, just not recieving any...
