    HP-35 Calculator

That's actually a MacBook, and it's not mine. I'm working on it for the weekend. :)

    HP-35 Calculator

I found an HP-35 calculator in a computer recycling bin yesterday. I opened it up and cleaned the power on/off switch contacts, since the switch was a little finnicky yesterday. The calculator works perfectly, except for the fact that the power adapter's cable is a little loose. :\ Here's a...

    PowerBook G4!

I actually hate the backlight. I've found that having the computer set it automagically makes both the screen and the keyboard at the same level, and with the bright-kinda color the screen is, it almost neutralizes some of the F-keys and some in the top row. I usually leave the backlighting...

    PowerBook G4!

I will eventually. I'm more concerned with getting it to at least a 1GB or more of RAM. For now, Tiger suits me. :)

    PowerBook G4!

So, I was at the after school program today working on imaging 10 iBooks, and the coordinator guy came up and told me that he cleared it with his boss that I can *have* the PowerBook! It's a tradeoff that I'll keep maintaining the website for the program through the end of my Senior year...

    Pismo!

I've gone through 3 yo-yos, and one 3400 45w adapter. This time, I'm trying my luck with a 3rd-party adapter. The Pismo never came with a power adapter, so my sis is using the 24w adapter from my Duo 280c until both 3rd party 45w adapters show up. Then the 24w adapter can return to its duties...

    Pismo!

I have a Lombard myself, I love the thing. I've gone through too many AC adapters, though. Another one is on its way :)

    Pismo!

My sister ordered a Pismo last week to replace her B&W. The machine came as the sticker says: 400MHz, 128MB, 20GB, DVD-ROM. I put a 512MB stick in, so she's got 640MB now, happily running Tiger. One more machine to the collection here. :)

I didn't know Houston had a Value Village

Nice! The IIsi is my favorite model of the series. I love finding stuff in thrift stores, but lately, the local Goodwill has been marking anything having to do with computers up; I saw a Quadra 630 in there once for $74.99! Congrats, though :)

The 68kMLA New Year Honours List

Not necessarily. Just because he was made a mod here doesn't mean his duties as channel op in #68kmla cease. And besides; we've got a couple other people in there who also have op status, so I don't think less attention to #68kmla will happen. I personally don't think this will affect our...

    My First G4!

Why Panther? I've found, in a couple cases, that Tiger runs *much* faster on any given system than does Panther. Best example is my Lombard 333; after I installed and updated (to 10.4.5 at the time), I found it was a lot more faster and more responsive than Panther. I'm also enjoying my Cube...

A few questions on iMac G3

All versions of OS X from 10.0 through 10.4 (Tiger) will work. Leopard requires a G4 867MHz or higher to run. Jaguar has run the best for me on a G3, but Panther is also very nice, as mentioned before. :)

A few questions on iMac G3

If you leave the iMac the way it is (400 MHz, 128MB, 10GB), you'll be very happy with Panther. I've used Panther on 128MB machines, and it's very nice. It's nothing compared to, say, a Mac Pro or anything, but it's not painfully slow, either. :) It works very well with light internet...

    MacPlus Upgraded 128K

I have a couple Plusses (Plusses? Pli? :p ) that was upgraded from either a 128 or 512. I've been too lazy to crack into it to see if there's any way to tell which one it was. Mine has no labels on the front other than the Apple logo, and the back casing says "Mac Plus 1Mb".

    iBook G3 800

My dad said the heat gun isn't working, so I'm not even going to bother with it. The video just stopped working last night, anyway. I'm going to part it out and sell the working stuff. Thanks for all the help!

    iBook G3 800

So, I got as far as peeling the yellow stuff off, when my brother came home with a hairdryer from my dad's house instead of a heatgun. *headdesk*. But, I've got one question. Am I doing this on the side on which I removed the yellow stuff, or the side on which the HD rests normally? I should...

    iBook G3 800

So it turns out the iBook does indeed have the GPU problem. I hadn't moved the iBook when I used it the first time. I'll see if my dad still has his heat gun around and toy with that idea4. Nothing to lose; it was free after all ;)

    iBook G3 800

So, it looks like it works perfectly. It starts up from a DVD into Panther perfectly. I've got a 30GB HD in my Lombard that I'm not using that much anymore, so all I really need is a keyboard for the 'book, and it looks like it'll be up and running! :)...
