Which PCI Powermacs Do You have?

Dead G3, my other vintage Mac is an LC II, soon to be an LC III with a Mobo swap. Anyone have a Beige G3 Zif and heatsink w/ clip they want to trade and/or sell for? I have an ISA Video capture suite I just picked up. Need to test it when I get back from California in a week.

Apple Power Supplies - why watts?

You should correct that. Any system that uses a certain VOLTAGE will only take as much AMPS as it needs. Keep in mind AMPs x Voltage = Watts. if you have 10.8 Watts @ 7.2v you have 1.5Amps. Watts really should not be a measurement. You should should use Amps. A laptop is going to require a...

Acquired: LC II and Apple SC CD-ROM

I did a cotton q-tip with alcohol. The laser is clean, I think the laser strength is off though. either that it failed. The disc does not spin as at. It injects the cartridge, then it ejects it after like 3 seconds. I might be able to take the top off and insert without a disc and see if the...

Acquired: LC II and Apple SC CD-ROM

Sorry for the late reply. I tried to solder the HDD and it didn't go for power. I am guessing either caps or bad solder points on the LC II board for the HDD. If I press on the cable to the HDD for power, the drive will spin up or down. It's possibly a loose joint somewhere, and I will take a...

Acquired: LC II and Apple SC CD-ROM

Well, I ran into a snag. First, I did get a SCSI dvd-ROM drive mounted with CD Sunrise. It didn't like my CD of the software for the installs. The second thing is that the AppleCD SC does not recognize discs. I cleaned the laser with alcohol and a q-tip. no change. I also used a pressed CD...

Acquired: LC II and Apple SC CD-ROM

No Eisenfaust. I am going to need that powerbook. the LC II won't boot from CD, and the SC Plus won't read burned discs. I also have no extension. I will need to use your powerbook to make a localtalk network to install. Please call me if I don't get a hold of you first

Acquired: LC II and Apple SC CD-ROM

Used a DB-15 to HD-15 adapter with switches. It's set to Mode 1 and 640x480. Would've been nicer if I still had my 4:3 display (1024x768/800x600/640x480) but that was stolen in the honda disaster. I set it manually to a 12" 640x480 mode. So it's locked in that mode. My monitor won't do the...

Acquired: LC II and Apple SC CD-ROM

I was talking with a friend today and I asked him if he still had a few things he told me about a while ago (old mac hardware). I picked up today: Macintosh LC II w/ Unknown RAM (2 sticks kingston), 160MB SCSI HDD, Floppy and PDS Ethernet card. As well as an AppleCD SC CD-ROM (Caddy load). I...

$100 - Apple LED Display Port Cinema 27" Display

Well, I ended up recovering it within 2 days. I also made an extra $200 on it. Kramer from that tv show picked my stock to say "sell! sell! sell!" and it tanked. People came to their senses and it went back up. For the record, I started with $1000 and grew it to $2000 in 6 months. I was in...

$100 - Apple LED Display Port Cinema 27" Display

Oh, and the cost of getting a Mac Pro is more prohibitively expensive for the slight extra performance increase than just working with my current Hackintosh. I believe I can make my Core i7 Ivy-Bridge come within about 2000 points of a 12-core. It's already hitting 15k point on geekbench...

$100 - Apple LED Display Port Cinema 27" Display

Yes. But keep in mind, it's heavy. So shipping plus materials and time costs money. I have also done most of the troubleshooting for some people. I verified good PSU and Logic board.

$100 - Apple LED Display Port Cinema 27" Display

Logic board didn't fix it. It's likely the LCD or the cable. Not gonna mess with it. The seller agreed to take the logic board back, so I will ship it back and get a refund. I will sell the rest of it for what I can get to recoup the costs. If anyone else wants to mess with it, let me know. I...

$100 - Apple LED Display Port Cinema 27" Display

Oh, also, in windows this thing is a beast. Doing handbrake at H.264 with several filters I have hit up to 285fps encoding on DVD sized formats and 120+ on 720p or 60-80 on 1080 (Blu-ray rips)

$100 - Apple LED Display Port Cinema 27" Display

I believe when I get the Display repaired, I will sell it. I can take the extra money and apply it to a new machine. Anyone interested in an "Other OS" PC? Core i7 3770k (OC'd to 4.0 on air nicely at stock voltage) 16GB DDR3-1800 4x 1TB Hitachi Ultrastar HDDs (7200RPM/32MB Cache) Radeon HD...

$100 - Apple LED Display Port Cinema 27" Display

Found out why. Logic board shot. I tested the PSU board, but it's working. All voltage works. However the logic board doesn't even present itself to the bus. I know I shouldn't have, but I ordered another Logic board for $185 shipped. More than I would normally pay, but I can turn around and...

$100 - Apple LED Display Port Cinema 27" Display

Tested the iSight and the Display Mic. They work. Ditto on power out to my macbook. The speakers don't work, but that could be a result of the display not showing video. It might not work unless the Display Port has video input. So I will check that later.
