Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
The monitor is connected to a Quadra 950 (listed as a compatible system) running macOS 8.1 for this test, and the resolution options show up as expected in the Monitors control panel.
Right now, I’m trying to save the EEPROM settings by connecting the monitor to one of the serial ports, but...
I received a Multiple Scan 17-inch monitor today. The unit seems to be in good shape but won’t power up. Since I would like to rule out a possible faulty control panel board, is there a way to test the power supply without the microprocessor control board and control panel board?
Congratulation! All the boards inside are pretty easily swappable, for instance, I had the soundboard replaced in mine a couple of weeks ago.
The tiny space inside the battery makes soldering cumbersome and dangerous, it is better to use a spot-welder. I went to an...
I scored a new Pismo for $40 in good shape except for the speaker port, which got manhandled at some point. It is the 400 MHz model, and it came with 576 MB of RAM installed, which was nice. However, since I have an old sound/AC board from a “Bronze”, I wondered if it is interchangeable with the...
Thank you for mentioning 9.2.2! I took the control panel and extension from 9.2.2 and made a switch and now the slider shows up. However, it won’t slide, and the keyboard buttons don’t do anything still. I don’t recall this issue!?
The brightness slider is gone, and the brightness buttons on the keyboard won't do anything. They work 9.2.2! I switched because the Pismo had trouble waking up from sleep in 9.2.2.
Try connecting an external SCSI device with termination. I have a recapped board that was very picky before I switched from an old “upside-down” Quantum to a SCSI2SD 5.1 with software termination. The only time it would boot where if I had an external CD-ROM connected.
I had to check my IIfx PSU since I never noticed any difference from my II PSU. I took some photos as well.
I can’t tell them apart (component-wise) from the inside, except the fan and grill is larger on the IIfx PSU.
The II PSU has Apple Part Number 699-0389, whereas the IIfx has 699-0393.

Nicely documented! I’ll be watching this thread!
Have you read about @BadGoldEagle ’s project?

@joshc Thank you! The setup results from inspiration from this site and many hours spent trying to figure out what I need. :)
@BadGoldEagle I use a switched outlet strip, and thanks to you, I always switch it off before I plug in the Quadra. The stand I bought a year ago from a Swedish cart...
Thank you!
Thanks! The monitor stand helps keep even pressure on the IIfx. However, some days it seems as if the ACHRGB (I love the acronym btw. -- T-shirt material!) is very picky about ESD and turns itself off due to X-ray protection, I was told? Even worse so if I wear Birkenstock sandals...
