Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
To me it makes more sense for the IIc, which also has its own bag but has a keyboard built in and can be attached to any TV.
Still, if I need to go somewhere in a hurry, I can always put the LC in the bag and take it with me!!
Yes, those are Mac monitors. The easy way to tell a IIGS monitor is the power light. On a Mac, it's a rectangle. On a IIGS, it's a parallelogram, with the short sides parallel to the top and bottom of the display.
Which operating system are you running?
Word wins for features and compatibility. The two newest Classic OS versions of Word, 98 and 2001, use the same .doc format as their PC counterparts; newer versions can export to this and import it even today. (Unfortunately, neither can read .docx)...
Regarding my use of MacDraw II...I first used it Summer 1991 on my dad's Mac Classic and still have a disk with the files I made on it. I got a copy the following year with my LC and have since acquired a few more copies to use on the iBook and an SE. I used it actively for many, many years...
So I found a copy of Claris Cad on eBay. It arrived today and while I haven't installed it on a Mac just yet (I'm thinking of putting it on the 5200 I'm buying next week--go ahead and tell me how bad the 5200 is; frankly, I'm buying one for pure nostalgia) but did read through the books I got...
I've used three cartridges and the alcohol trick, so I'm guessing the contact may be the issue. I could always find another StyleWriter and swap some parts around to see if it would work.
Here's an idea for anyone who is good with HyperCard and MacroMind Director...how about a challenge to see who can come up with a new expansion room for Spelunx?
The program was designed to be expanded, as evidenced by the builder. All copies of Spelunx came with just three rooms, but...
Has anyone here used Claris CAD? I'm looking to do a little drafting in the near future and with programs like AutoCAD being what they are (expensive, hard to use) I'm wondering how Claris's offering was. I haven't used it myself, but I do remember hearing it was basically "MacDraw on steroids"...
Good news for you: I did a thread on them a long time ago!!
I get a feeling the board may have been replaced at some point, but still...check out the case/details here!!
It looks like the case is textured. Many prototypes don't have a textured case, although there are varying cases within prototypes based on which stage they are in.
Most everyone knows about the clear-case SE prototype. There exists an earlier prototype of the SE, which is beige, has no texture...
Having two Macs is never a bad thing. They're very comparable, as everyone has said. You may want to pick up a pair of LocalTalk or PhoneNet boxes and play around with networking them.
In terms of the Plus vs SE debate, don't forget the Classic is also comparable. Its advantages are RAM...
Regarding screws: I have a no-CD LC 550 which has its original packing list. 2 screws are mentioned on there, but they're practically the only part missing. I had to put two of my spares on myself since the tabs are broken. Aside from that and some yellowing though, the computer is in immaculate...
It does indeed have the door! I also have a teardrop ADB mouse for it that's in perfect shape.
The only real wear is on the yellowed keyboard, and the one from my dead 180c will more than likely replace it.
Plus having the other 145 will be good in two other ways...I can sell another unit with...
Definitely! Thanks!! I watched the video on the screen recap and saw the difference it made on your screen in the old thread, so I'm confident I can revive this machine. I know it works otherwise...the hard drive spins up, pressing command-O opens whatever was on the desktop, and pressing shift...
