impressive- any chance you can get good pictures of the board (both sides), and, if you can get an apple system profiler report from 8.6+ that would be great
I'm trying to do some detailed benchmarks comparing slots and controller options on pci macs, and am looking for a copy of the MacBench 5 cdrom (or image)...
any leads on this.. the basic app, while nice, isn't comprehensive enough without the cd-rom to make accurate comparisons...
thanks
I did a little testing this morning and 9.2.2 seems stable on the 9600 + 1ghz, but 8.x and before (even the stock 9600 install from the cd, seem really flaky.. maybe apple changed something in the 9.x era for supporting real g4's that might help.. i know their target audience was os9 and...
turns out the issue was apparently related to the fact that this drive was partitioned while i was on the 9600s that were having issues... apparently regardless of drive ERASES, the issue wouldn't disappear, but repartitioning it worked fine... wacky, and it's all stable now!
oh! you don't NEED it- they just use it as their "failsafe" against dumb customers....
just boot in extensions off then run the installer
you can reboot normally when done...
I've been doing some research and while sonnet qualifies the card as 7.5 compatibile.. I have a feeling 7.x support...
as a side note I'm having a wierd situation I haven't been able to clear up yet...
while it's stable... Stuffit expander 4.5, 5.1, 5.5 all hard crash during an expand phase.. but only in 7.6.1 with the card installed... in 8.x and later it's stable.
I'm still looking into the problem, but it...
Just as a side note (but seemingly unrelated to this exact issue)- 2 things...
1) anything that tends to wipe open firmware settings, from a dying PRAM battery to rebooting under a sever hardware change on occasion will cause the sonnet 800/1ghz g4 cards to boot in an unstable mode (aka without...
PowerMac 9500 arrived yesterday (yes, not monday)
Finally used all the parts i've been assembling to get it upgraded:
PowerMac 9500

(2) Seagate SATA 250GB HDD
(2) Sonnet Tempo SATA PCI

Yeah.. I've a pile of spare 5xx parts to get rid of one of these days now that i've condensed down to finishing the refurb job of the 550 and using the 500 (ppc) for everything else....
If anyone might want to take the rest of the stuff odff my hands, I might be willing to actually inventory...
• G4 Cube and 15" ADC in near mint condition
• Assistive Technology Freestyle in near mint condition
(all orginal software loaded on drive still, as well as tutorial cd-rom)
• DLink BlueTooth Mac Dongle
Yes it's not Monday, but I was out of town until today...
that's what people have been saying since the early 00's...
moore's law is technically not specific- nor exacting- it does not necessarily apply any particular technological principle in reality- YES, the original "transistor count" statement was what is most often quoted, but moore's...
5xxx <-> 6xxx differences are non-existant- any differences you saw was inherent to the board revision used.
when one puts a x400 board in a aio chassis, the harness assembly lets the board identify as a 5400, in the instatower chassis, it's a 6400
this is based on the same gestalt...
a-train was actually not originally a maxis product, but under maxis, was released in the us for pc, mac, psx
iirc it's the second version of the game still made by artdink...
here's the current version 8:

BeOS (for certain), (and to my knowledge, all linux builds) never supported any onboard capture cards... your best bet is to nab a BT848 card (the TurboTV card for macs works, but many pc-only cards will as well), as linux/beos support for that chipset is plentiful.
do yourself a favor and find a nubus video card that does not require sog.
the iici will ONLY do 640x480 max resolution (can do portrait as well, but requires hardwired adapter for apple portrait display or compatible) on its internal video output.
thus, not only will you need to find a sog...
not exactly true... Performa 600 will do nubus and a/ux (granted the installation of an fpu)
regardless, no- a/ux's mac environment is a huge mess... one should consider it akin to classic/bluebox
G4 Sawtooth and later will take airport cards, but need no adapter.
the adapter, however is used for the new-world imac g3's as they needed a riser to connect to the cards.
All retail airport cards shipped with the adapter, which means a LOT of these adapters were tossed out.
Airport Extremes...
