Wow, your Kaypro works! Mine is still faulty, haven't nailed down what chip is keeping it from booting yet.
Where did you get it? Someone had one of those for sale at VCF East.
Got some free books and software at VCF East over the weekend, including these neat old Mac books. Sadly the 1989 AppleTalk book I also got is so ruined from water damage (not sure if it was from the pouring rain yesterday or pre-existing) that it's basically trash. That Microsoft Works package...
I just find it strange that there were no wet spots from cap goo on the dusty board. Some pads that were less shiny than others, sure, but you'd think if my sound had gone completely out there would be utter cap carnage.
Giving the motherboard a really good clean with isopropyl alcohol (including the edge connector) restored the bong! I didn't notice any tell-tale wet spots from leaking caps before cleaning though.
On the one hand I'm glad it's not some weirdness on the analog board, on the other hand it's frustrating to have to recap something...I only just learned how to solder period this weekend!
I'm waiting for a CD-ROM equivalent of the Gotek, especially for machines with SCSI or other non-IDE optical drives. These old optical drives keep dying, especially at my house!
It's so much nicer having proper colors, though I wish 7.1.1 had desktop backgrounds built in. I really didn't want to install 7.5.5 off floppy disks though.
That would be great if I could find one of those and had the space for it.
Unfortunately I don't have another adapter. I suppose I could try and see if there's a menu option for handling the green signal.
I was hoping that wouldn't end up being the case. I don't think I have a sync on green monitor so I guess I'm stuck with green vision until I buy another video card.
I have a Macintosh IIfx with a Macintosh High-Resolution Video Card (supports 640x480 at 67Hz) and when running it through a 10-switch DB15 to VGA adapter set up in 13" RGB mode, I get green video. And by green I mean...really green.
I'm using one of these adapters set for 13" RGB, mode 5...
